Good Morning, Everyone,

It's a beautiful winter day here (-3 F. early and up to +4 at present) and the beans are going x-c skiing late this morning. Rusty had a good night. He is back to "normal" (when he got home from the vet yesterday he was pretty tired out and may have been feeling the effects of the rabies shot). In any event, he was eating well all day yesterday and last night ate all his nighttime food. This morning we had a good test, shot, breakfast, lung treat, no schmooze (I was busy getting my skiing stuff ready: this will be my first time on skis this winter), but a nice nap in his little bed by the radiator. He'll get a +4.5 test this morning and suitable food will be left out for him. Rusty is on Levemir, so the +4.5 should be pretty close to onset.

Wishing you all a good day and sending healing vines to all kitties and beans in need of some.

Happy National Sweater Day to all you Canadians!

Ella & Rusty

Re: 2/6 Rusty AMPS 113

I'm so glad to hear that his appetite is much better improved, and that he's starting to feel like his 'ol Rusty self. That's a wonderful report!

Have a great time cross country skiing, and please be safe, and warm.

Re: 2/6 Rusty AMPS 113

I'm glad Rusty is feeling better today. Vaccines are good...but they make me so nervous for so many reasons. I've grappled with whether I should go with the 1 year or 3 year, too. I have gone with the 3 year, because I've heard that the vaccines are actually good for 7-10 years, and having to re-vaccinated every single year (ie, over-vaccination) scares me as much as the risk of VAS with the 3 year does. I wish they would get the regulations in tune with what the animal actually needs. My town requires vaccines for licensing ( and cats are supposed to be licensed.). Have to admit, since mine are all indoors-only, I have skipped vaccines since they 3-year expired, and I haven't licensed them in a couple years. I know it's a bit of a risk...no matter what we do, it's a risk. Argh!

I'm also glad you finally got the snow you wanted. Enjoy!! Have a great time skiing...I really am jealous of people who are able to enjoy the cold, snowy weather.

Hi Ella:

I hope Rusty goes green today!

It will do your soul good to get some skiing done. I always feel better after xcountry skiing. Sun, exercise, smiles.

Thank you for your help with Scooter it is very reassuring to have your experience. :-D

Re: 2/6 Rusty AMPS 113, +4.5 100, +9 62

Hi again,
We are back from our ski to Grassy Pond. The day was magnificent. The skiing was lots of exercise (we had to break trail in 10 inches of new snow). Edward snowshoed and got even more exercise than the skiers (we were a group of 6). Rusty was sleeping soundly in his basket when we got home a little before +9. I had to wake him up! Then he enjoyed his hairball treat, his freeze-dried chicken treats, and a +9 snack of FF T&G. He had eaten his lunch, but obviously went to sleep and didn't see the snack left out for him until we got home.

This evening the "mountain-disaster film club" is meeting here again to see Leni Riefenstahl in "The Blue Light". Rusty will be happy to greet his friends. Before the "show" I have to get my climbing stuff ready for tomorrow. 3 of us are going to climb Ampersand Mt. on snowshoes (one of the Winter Saranac 6 challenge). After we complete this climb there will only be 2 more mountains to go and we will be "Winter 6ers".

Rusty is looking great at this dose!   I'm glad he's back to normal. Neko was always a little subdued after shots.

Skiing today sounds fun, if not a little strenuous for Edward. And then hiking again tomorrow. :o Have fun at the movie.

Hi again and thanks for visiting! I have to turn in without visiting condos. The climb tomorrow requires sleep tonight! The movie night was fun, as always.

The LagoonMeister is on duty.
