Didn't get a chance to post before I left the house this morning. Those 5:30 am'ers are hard when you only get 6 hours of sleep. Making a promise to myself now to get in bed tonight no later than 10:30pm. I am going to remind myself how much I love my bed and how comfortable it is...why don't I want to get into it sooner!

So Ozzy ended his PM cycle lower than the last test I got in last night. I wonder what happened after we went to bed. Did he drop lower and then come back up to the 289 AMPS this morning (in other words- had a second dip), or did he just stay the same all night for the next 6 hours and then dipped down 4 points to his AMPS this morning (probably not likely).

I am hoping for some lower numbers today. We kept him at the .5U fat dose again. Some others suggested he might be bouncing from his green the other day so I'm apprehensive about increasing too much right now while we can't be home to monitor. Hubby will actually be able to check in on him up to at least +4 this morning, but I can't say that will be the case Tues - Thurs (I doubt it) so I don't want to increase while he can be monitored today but then not for the next 2 days. I have a 3 day- weekend coming up so will get some more data in then.

@Taffysmama Since it's raining again today...what do you think...Taffy and Ozzy will want to come and see some blues??? LOL!

Hubby just called with the +4 report (212). Looks like Ozzy will most likely see some blues here in the next hour or so. Good news!

Wish we could monitor this cycle more....if he goes down another 70+ points in the next 2-3 hours, that might trigger a bounce from his AMPS of 289 and then we'd know what's going on if he goes back up the next few cycles.

Mercy, Jo, all this makes my head swim .....hope Ozzy and Figgie have a wonderful day and u r at peace while at work . :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Ahhh, sorry Beth!!!

It' been a frustrating process to say the least.
Welcome to Frustrating Felines Club, Jo. I'll be joining you there in L&L Land tomorrow AM. I'm putting hard, cold cash on Teasel defying any attempt to get him calmed down (easily) by the switch to Lantus. I should think positively but I know my kitty!;)

Glad you're coming over to the other side, Kris. :woot::woot: Wishing little Teasel a smooth transition and that he hopefully starts to get regulated once on Lantus.

Finally got a ketone test on Ozzy and it was negative.

I guess I jinxed Ozzy with my whole cat report yesterday. Came home to a small batch of vomit on wood floors and after his ketone test he made a litter box deposit and it was soft and stinky. Dang!! If I had not witnessed it myself I would've thought it was Figgie's. I cleaned the box right before and there were several deposits that looked healthy and different sizes and I thought both cats were back to normal. Wonder what changed. Only thing on routine I skipped this am was the SEB because Hubby filled auto feeder and I didnt want to try to explain to him how to mix it in. Doubt one missed mix with SEB could cause that. He got ziwipeak for dinner. Could it come out that soon?? Like 15 mins later (since all poos today looked normal)? Not going to stress over it...will just continue the AV, PB, and SEB. Do I have to give this stuff forever??

Depends what's causing the runny poo/vomiting. My civie had the vomiting thing going on for a while and was diagnosed with IBD at first. I tracked his fuds and what caused the vomiting and what proteins caused it. I then did a "cleanse" where he stayed off those proteins (chicken, turkey) for over 6 months, then slowly added them back and he seems good on them now. Now that he's under control, I don't have to do SEB, though I do keep up the probiotics and periodic AV as needed. Regarding the runny poo, it does several hours for food to be digested (timing depending on if raw or canned).

FWIW - I still think he has room for an increase. If he got green last night, it wouldn't have been low.

Thank you for this feedback, Wendy. I think you are correct. Not sure what he could be bouncing from still. I have noticed his PSs have been back in the yellow the last 3 days, and he had 2 good blue cycles on Saturday, but I'd really like to see him come down on his cycles overall. Wanted to see what he does tonight, and if same as last week (likely), I will give .75U tomorrow. Kind of sad to be going back up on the dose, but really my biggest concern is to get him back to greens and blues regularly no matter what dose gets him there. We did go from 1.25U to .5U pretty quickly. Ozzy didn't get to stay at the inbetween doses for very long. Probably should have put him back up to the .75U dose after his bounces cleared from the week of 1/16. We were just being conservative since we could not monitor the am cycles.

Anyone have bad experiences feeding ziwipeak? I just read some awful surprising stories online.

+4.5 = 88. Happy to see Ozzy in blues again, but they are high blues and he's pretty flat tonight. Thinking of increasing to .75U in the am. Will see what his PS number is and decide in the AM.

Nighty!
