2/6 Darcy AMPS 379, +3 370, +8 354, PMPS 323

Sorry for the sea of pink. :bighug: Yes on the 12 units. I know it's depressing now, but there is a dose out that that will move Darcy. How is he feeling/acting these days?

Well... I always know when he gets up there in the 300s because he's never away from the water bowl. That's what it was like today.

Poor baby.

I've been thinking about a couple options to help Darcy's numbers. One is to do a bit of "fast tracking" where you do a couple times of increasing after 4 units instead of 6. That only works if you can keep on getting those 4 tests a day in. The second option is to use R or Regular insulin, in addition to Lantus. R can be a powerful, but potentially dangerous tool. You give just small amounts of it. It's a fast acting insulin, lasting only maybe 4 hours, but it can help lower the numbers to give the Lantus some better numbers to work with. You only want the R to bring things down no more than 100 points. There is a lot to learn to do, and not to do with R, so we usually suggest that an experienced R user "sit" with you the first while until you get the hang of it. If you are interested, here is Oberon's SS, Lisa is still sometimes using R. It does mean more testing at the beginning, to try to learn how the R works with the Lantus. Once we get your test results back, we can talk more about these options, but I just wanted to put them out there for now as possibilities.

For any lurkers reading, these suggestions are only for Mr. Darcy and Suzanne.

Finally, I can't remember, have we talked about the possibility of switching Darcy to Levemir? Many cats on higher doses of Lantus react to the acid base of Lantus, which could sting them.
