happy sunday everyone!

our funny episode this morning comes not from mr. exalted, but from his sometime tortie nemesis, Smudge. Binks has somewhat grudgingly relinquished many territorial borders to the girls...they sleep on the bed with me while he sleeps in the living room...they share his feeding rug...play with his toys...occupy the bean's lap, and use his cat gym.
the one place he draws the line is his cat box...he's got the Breeze in the bathroom...they've got a regular box in the bedroom. Naturally, this means that Smudge has decided she will be using the Breeze. Every fight we've had the last few days has been a result of her choice...and the bean has come out firmly on Binks' side in the issue.

The tip-off is the noise made when kitties step on those pellets in the box...and upon hearing it, Binks flies in to defend his throne, and i grab the spray bottle.
Friday i doused her so completely and angrily that she hid under the bed for 15 mins...problem solved, i smugly thought.

Turns out i underestimated the matriarch...this morning he was pitching a fit, so i took a peek in the bathroom...and there in the box is Smudgie...calmly doing her business with all four feet braced on the edges of the box balancing her so she doesnt make the warning rattle!
I was laughing too hard to spray her down...and i felt like that kind of ingenuity deserved a little leeway. :lol:

all 5 p's present this am for the boy (AFTER i rinsed out the LB)...

all things seem to be back on track with consistent dosing, i'm thinking of going 2 cycles without the uproar we've been experiencing, and then possibly taking the skinny off his dose.

LOL, Celi! :lol: :lol: But I'm feeling sorry for Smudge. Trying to do her business and getting sprayed for the effort. Be careful it doesn't make her use non-approved facilities for her business (aka not the LB). Have a great day!

Too funny! I love hearing about all the furbabies. Smudgie is a real character. I think she just loves to get Binkster every chance she gets! Send Smudgie over to play with Maggie when Binkster needs a break. Enjoy your day!

you pegged it, ann...she only uses his box when she's been admonished about something...retaliation!

and you're right, Ele...i take her to the other box after i spray her...thank goodness they are all violently opposed to any wrongful LB action in the house...
doesnt matter which one of them it is...they come to me for cleanup duty immediately following deposits...
and i'm thankful for that considering what the girls COULD be like given their 6 years lacking supervision...

actually fed him LC this time...but will watch him closely.

Maybe you can teach Smudge to use the toilet? She seems to have the technique down. :lol: We use the Breeze too and we can always tell when Tess does a major deposit because she makes a LOT of racket.

Poor Binkster doesn't get to sleep w/ Mom? Oh the deprivation! :o

Celi, how are you doing the pix now? Down loading to your computer , then uploading? Or a link using the "img" button? I've found a size limitation on that now.

asking early...won't do it tonight as i'm going to be primarily at my mom's and he'll be down here with my cousin,
but wondering if wiser folks can take a look at his SS and see if tomorrow morning i should take the skinny off his dose and go up to .25
(provided nothing spectacular happens on this next cycle)

ann...i've found that you're right...size DOES matter :lol: so i save the pics to my computer then upload them as attachments...

The image of Smudge clinging to the sides of the litterbox is just too funny.

If you're going to be around to monitor and providing there's no major change tonight, I think it's OK to take off the skinny.

listen dude, you have got to relax about the LB...case in point...one girl in our house decided to use the beans' king size bed as a giant LB in november. turns out the girl, nixie, is one crazy cat and has "substrate and anxiety issues," but i'm just saying...if smudge is crazy enough to use the LB, figure out a way to do it without making noise...well, let's just say you might just lose this battle and the consequences could be dire.

i would have been toast if i came into contact with a polydactyl tortie. i have no torties right now, but have a serious soft spot for torties and we have two polydactyl. six is a poly and at the time, was the sixth addition to the house. :smile: smudge sounds like she's got spunk and extra digits! is she a talker?

thanks, sienne...have an idea that's where we'll be heading tomorrow.

:lol: amy...she's almost as vocal as binks...which is to say Oh, yeah!

she has a tendency to be a major raga$$, complainer, and warner...but she also purrs and chuckles when she's happy...and does the Nom Nom when she eats.

She's an excellent cuddler, though...but it's continual...hence the nickname 'Velcro'
In her defense, i just started giving her supplements for arthritis, and i believe she is hard of hearing, so i think that contributes to her crabbiness.

Well so since she's already got the position sprawl down maybe you could just teach her to use the toilet now!

I laughed so hard I thought I was going to fall out of my chair. Thanks. It doesn't happen very often it. I needed it.

hate to say it...but i'm kind of glad to see this...

i'm heading to bed, and will take him from the skinny .25 to a full .25 in the morning.

they've been fighting tonight, so maybe everyone will be in a better mood tomorrow...
