Its with a heavy heart that I have to post that Princess, Spikes sister passed away this morning. She was just shy of 18 years old. She was the only female besides me in a house of all males. I'll miss her dearly.
She had been fine up until the last month. Over the past week I noticed her breathing heavier than usual. I brought her to the vet last night and she had fluid around her lungs and what looked like a mass near her heart. After her xray she was mouth breathing a lot. The vet gave me all her options which included having a eco cardigram under sedation, a catheter maybe tapping her lungs just to see how her heart was. She also had kidney issues. In my heart I didnt think she would make it through all the stress and the vet hinted that the results probably wouldnt be good. I decided to take her home and spend some time with her. I knew to bring her in with any signs of distress. I was laying on the couch early this morning and heard her vomit, then I saw her she was mouth breathing again with her tongue hanging out. I knew it was her time. By the time we got to the vet she couldnt use her back legs, she had thrown a clot. I was with her when she took her final breath and she was looking at me and knew I loved her always. I took her home and dh and I are bringing her to be cremated this morning. I always hoped shed live to be 20 but it wasnt in her cards. She was well loved and cared for ever since the day she was found in a tree trunk. Im sure all her brothers and sisters that went before her are meeting her at the big cat nip field in the sky. Bye sweety, I love you.
