Good Morning, LL,

We have SNOW!! Beautiful, fluffy snow. Rusty had a good night and this morning we had a good morning routine (except for a slightly "ouchie" shot). Today Rusty visits the vettybean for his wellness check-up and a rabies shot (I've requested the 1-year, PureVax vaccine). He'll have the bloodwork and urinalysis and we'll see what she thinks about his congestion/breathing. Last year at this time was when he had a bronchoalveolvar lavage, but if she thinks we should repeat that test, I think I'll postpone it until we have warmer weather. Our appointment is at 10:45 (Eastern time) and we will leave a bit early to allow for slower driving because of the snow. Hmm. I just looked over Rusty's records and see that his wellness exam isn't supposed to be until June. I'll ask whether we should indeed have it today. We may just be getting the rabies shot.

I hope all goes well with the vetty visit. How nice to have some fluffy snow. I hope you can get some snowshoeing in.

Hi again,
We're home from the vet. Rusty didn't get the 1-year PureVax rabies vaccine: he got the regular 3-year killed virus. I finally agreed to it because state law makes the rabies shot mandatory. And it's what the vet has. We discussed it and she said she has never had a problem with the 3-year vaccine. So I guess I'll try not to worry. His previous rabies shot, with a different vet, was also 3-years and he was OK.
Anyway, we decided not to do the bloodwork or the urinalysis until June, when it will be the regular time for his yearly labs. He has been fine lately (anti-jinx) and she listened to his vital signs and his heart is perfect and his breathing sounded the way it has always sounded. So Rusty got a nail clipping and we went home (much to his relief, and ours). He weighed 16 1/2 lbs. on the vet's scale (which is not digital). Last week he weighed 16 lbs., 4 oz. on our digital scale. So his weight is good and within his normal range.
Rusty tested 63 on our return from the vet, but I fully expect him to go up when the day's "activity" sinks in :lol: . He's up on his perch, having a snooze. He seems fine.

Gotta go grocery shopping this afternoon so we can go x-c skiing tomorrow with some friends.

Yo Kitties, All invited to come sit on my radiators this afternoon, drink hot tuna toddies, and munch cimmamum cookies. KTSS spa treatment for me for the vetty smell? YES, please!! Tomorrow we'll have to clear the snow off the curling rink before practice.

Very nice vetty visit today. I'm so glad that he's normal, and that he's maintaining his weight, too. WTG, Rusty!!!! Lovely +5.25, too. Hoping that he continues to surf nicely for you. Have a great day, and please be safe, Ella.

Nice post vet numbers. Maybe Rusty has decided that the vet isn't so bad after all!

I was really relieved when I had to take Emma in last week that our vet uses the Pure Vax. She goes out so she really needed to have the vaccination, but Tess doesn't get them as she is indoor only. Dr S said she doesn't vaccinate her indoor cat either!

I hope you can get out and play now! Sorry to be so awol, repotting season has dumped on me! W/ our unusually warm weather everything has started to grow 2 months early. We have wisteria blooming! :shock:

Looks like a good day shaping up for Rusty - good report from vet, nice low numbers, and safely to and fro in the snow! :-D Surf safely today, Rusty. Just pretend that vetty visit was a dream...

Have fun cross country skiing. Do you go on a track, or truly cross-country?

Rusty must have been one happy kitty for such a quick vetty visit - and his numbers show it :-D Good news all around!
It is nice to read about someone who is happy to see snow :-D

Rusty was thrilled to get in and out of there! So glad that his breathing, heart rate, and weight are looking good.

Great news from the vet! I'm sure Rusty was happy to get out of there and go home though!

If you run out of snow, or would just like a little more, you let me know! I'll be happy to ship you another 10" of it!

Hi again, There's the vettystress bounce! Just a little delayed. Rusty is hungry this afternoon.

Snow continues to fall. We have about 8 inches of new snow, so far. We will be x-c skiing tomorrow to Grassy Pond (a wilderness pond).

So great to hear that the vetty visit went very well for Rusty. :-D Icky on the bouncy, hope it clears pretty quick. Have a wonderful time skiing tomorrow, sounds wonderful ;-)

Woohoo on the clean bill of health. Boo to the vetty on not having Purevax. Neko's vetty doesn't either and they referred me to a place across town to get it. Might do a bit research to see if I can get it closer but she's not going out much anymore. And we'd probably have to pay for another exam. :roll:

Great news on the XC coming up and your snow! Have fun in the fresh stuff.

I think Neko might be joining Rusty on the same team tonight.

Hi Ella,
I'm glad (for Rusty particularly) that today's vet visit went smooth and quick, except they didn't have the shot you wanted.
Great news his heart and lung sounded fine. :-D

I hope he'll get de-stressed soon!
 
Rusty was tired out tonight and slept a lot, but he's OK. He ate well, sat in my lap for a while, and worked on his feet (the newish vet tech wasn't too good at nail trimming). We are about to turn in. Sorry I didn't get back on the board. I was tired out from Rusty's day, too.
