Yesterday was vetty day in Mannieland!.... and fly to the outermost regions of the Stratosphere day in MannieLand. :? Mannie had three consecutive cycles on prior days where he made the blues, low blues, yellows, Numbers that were very good. It is no surprise to me that he bounced from it all, but I had so hoped that it would not be as bad as it was. I thought perhaps we may be done with the alpha readings... guess not. ;-) well, through a rather long vetty trip in there, and voila: stratosphere readings. Overall I feel that things are settling a bit for Mannie, after his recent P'titus. We are finding some good Numbers again, and patience will be required with all of this. I hope for a good day today, maybe some nice yellow and blues today too. Right Mannie? Appy continues to be good, LB continues to be good, ketones negative. Think blue Mannie, you can do it! Mannie - here's to you, some very strong feel better vines. Lubs ya big guy! cat_pet_icon

The Internal Medicine Specialist report was discussed yesterday, but I will repost what I wrote then in case anyone missed it, etc. I forgot to mention too yesterday that when the vet went to exam his eyes to see the vascular system there that she found he does have cataracts: immature bilateral ones. There are changes in his vascular system in the eyes that is supportive of high BP. ok... here's the stuff from yesterday:
IM VET: Mannie did well at the vetty - such a good boy. I do like this IM specialist - very thorough, and she listened to me,. WOO HOO! We reviewed all that has happened to him during the past two months, all labs, all U/S. She agrees that Mannie is hypertensive, but also felt that his dose was two high (ETA: this refers to his BP meds dose). Going forward that will be adjusted to a smaller dose. We also discussed Mannie's general behavior, and what I have been seeing over the past month: the slowness, etc. It is her opinion that Mannie has Hypokalemia, or too low potassium, which is the reason this slowness, and general muscle weakness. So.... he will be put on a potassium supplement Tumil K ("liquid", as the pills were HUGE). Potassium level came in a 3.1, further labs were sent out for aldosterine testing, results are pending (shipped to UMinn). Once those come in he will be reevaluated, and a determination will be made on the BP meds. We may switch. We are not starting the BP stuff for at least three week to give Mannie time to process the Tumil K. Plavix/baby aspirin is on hold until these first two items are resolved, possible a few months down the road. The priority right now is to get the potassium level up, getting him feeling 100% (knew there was a reason I couldn't give that to him), then address the BP, and then the blood-thinners and potential clotting, issue in conjunction with plavix/aspirin. Sooooo.... that is it. and for once I was not questioned on my FD management (she actually said - good for you on home testing etc) or told I should be feeding science diet. she actually said FF is a decent food...  ;-) I like this vet.

All in well in MannieLand. He survived the vetty trip yesterday. Once home it was an immediate check of the house, all it's surrounding, and of course the nanners. Once he was satisfied all was well it was major sleep mode for the rest of the day. Poor guy was so worn out from having to be checked from stem to stern yesterday. he made a trip out on the deck too, got in his yard sniffs and security checks. Life is good In MannieLand. Test was good this morning, as was the shoot. Appy was good: he ate well. CPC!!!!! 98% Close to normalcy in MannieLand, still working on that last 2%.... :-D Com'on Meds - work!

Have a great day everyone! I will be off to Seattle in the afternoon to have coffee with a friend. YAHOO! The morning... well... the house so needs to be cleaned... fun. not.

Hey everybody! thank you to all bestest ever friends and the KTSS for saving me yesterday. You guys are the best! and wow - I had forgotten how good a Tobey massage was. **Ahhhhhh.....** OK! I feel better. SO.... how about having a cookie day. maybe visit the bakeries... travel the roads... cook in auntie Ella beans kitchen... maybe the treehouse. I so feel the need for cookies! lots of cookies! and a few micro brews too. maybe we can hang out at the beach after... What'd'ya guys think? You in? Let me know - I am ready for anything!!~~ Mannie

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416

Well at least Mannie broke out of LetterLand for AMPS today...that's progress. I don't blame him for being stressed after vetty day - I would be, too!

98% - yay! Almost there, Mannie!

Have a great day, Michelle!!

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416

Morning Amy ~O) ~O) ~O) oh so true! no alpha, back to numbers, and hopefully he has forgotten yesterday at the vetty. ;-) yep, getting there on that last 2%. I hope the potassium supplement takes care of that.

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416

**Sigh.**
Michelle, how nice it is to see Mannie NOT saying 'hi' with those big capital letters! Yay for CPC and 98%!!
Enjoy your day!

~Josie

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416, +2 423

423 @ +2 YAY on there not being too much of a fuds spike. Down you go Mannie, slowly...

Morning Josie ~O) ~O) ~O) I so agree... the alpha reads are the hardest to swallow.

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416, +2 423

Morning Michelle, hope Mannie breaks the bouncey, but nice and safe. That was such a good Vetty visit yesterday and to know what some of his issues are and to start on a treatment plan. It definitely helps to have an IM Vet on board once they start getting multiple medical issues. Now today Mannie can rest and get back to Mannie normalcy. Have a great time today with your friend.
Mannie, your coffee was extra special and so good today, many thanks, Auntie Ann

Hey Mannie, so glad we got all that bad Vetty smell off so today you can relax. Cookie day is one of my fav things to do. Aunt Ella's kitchen it is today. Great on visiting some bakeries, too. See ya at my curb, Mags

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416, +2 423

Thank you for the re-cap. I was trying to get over here last night and didn't make it.
Hope the new potassium med starts getting results asap.
And 2 % isn't a huge gap to mend.

If only meditation would help with the bp.

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416, +2 423

Hi guys .. Glad that you found a vet you feel comfortable with .. and I hope that the potassium supplements help mannie get back to 100% real soon .. Now we just need to work on getting him to the lagoon again! have a great day guys!

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416, +2 423

Thanks for the recap. I didn't see this last night. Hopefully, once the potassium is back to normal (I have the same problem and take those huge pills), he will be feeling the Manster again. Did she have any suggestions about reversing or slowing the cataracts? The one thing I learned with Maui's blindness, is that cats can very easily adapt. Maui gets around the apartment just fine. She knows where most everything is and while she bumps into walls (especially if stressed), she manages fine. Hopefully, this won't happen to Mannie.

Hi Mannie,

Thanks for my special tea! It has cheered me up, especially as it is a gray, dull and very cold day out!

Hey Mannie,

What's wrong with your eyes? You can't see either? Well, no more driving for you. I will just have to do all the driving from now on! I can even drive in my sleep, I am so good at it!

Hmmm, cookies you say...as long as there is some yummy nip in them, I'm all for eating cookies. It's really cold here, so it's time to go where it is warm and the sun is shining. I so love feeling the sun on my fur..... Alright, let's eat....I mean bake!

Signed Maui the Magnificent

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416, +2 423, +4 245

245 @ +2 oh wow - dropping fast. Mannie... slow up a bit, 'K? No need to hurry....

Morning Ann ~O) ~O) ~O) Yupp, well on his way to breaking this bouncy, like too fast. SO SO Mannie... I asked him to slow down the bus. ;-) THX on yesterday - I really agree. The IM vet had an ability to put all the pieces together - I really liked that part. I still trust and like my regular vet, but per her own admission, the IM vet is better suited in a way to deal with kitties that have multiple issues. I think we have a good plan, so now we wait and see if Mannie agrees that it is a good plan. paws crossed. :-D
Auntie Ann - you are welcome! I like todays... it is our grass roots, ya know? I can bring you more, just let me know... Mannie, kitteh barista ~O)

Morning Rhiannon ~O) ~O) ~O) I love that photo - I could so see Mannie doing that too! yupp, wouldn't that be great: meditate = good BP. well, I too hope the potassium route helps make tings right for Mannie. Hopefully in a couple of days we will see some improvement. :-D

Morning Devon ~O) ~O) ~O) You are welcome on the recap. Me too on the vet. So far it is good. I so hope it will continue to be so. THX on the potassium, I do too. and a for sure on his presence at the lagoon.

Morning Hillary ~O) ~O) ~O) You are welcome on the recap too. I so hope the potassium helps, and that the gel is the way to go. I took one look at those pills and thought no way will I get that down his throat, and he is so leery of ANYTHING in his food, so... gel it was. so far so good there. No input on the cataracts. I have heard that there really isn't much one can do about it, but will ask the next time we are there. I had wondered if he was having problems, once or twice in the past year he acted liked he didn't see something. it was weird, but hasn't happened again. And yes, I suspect that they do adapt well. well, we will see how this goes with Mannie. LOL: another thing on the list. :-D
Auntie Hillary - you is so welcome11 I will make you cheery tea anytime. It is so funs to add cheer. It makes me happy too! ~~ Mannie, kitteh barista

Maui - I dunno! I thoughts my eyes were perfect! but the vetty says I have these things there. Weird huh! and hey - I drives just fine! I think..... heeheehee but you are right! You can drive while you are sleeping. amazing feat! I LUBS it! Teach me, OK? Bake we shall! I will picks you up! it is really warm at Rusty's - he gots radiators and the bestest ever wood stove! Mega cool. See you soon!~ Mannie

Maggie! Me TOO! WOW, did I ever have vetty smell - it was awful! I love cookie day too - it is my fav, right up there with pizza day and grillin'. I hope Auntie Ella is ready for us. I will picks you up at the curb, and then we will be on our way!~~ Mannie

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416, +2 423, +4 245

Morning guys can we borrow your patient pants? LOL! Nice drop for Mannie! 98% is awesome, what a good boy. Glad the vetty trip went well. Have fun in Seattle and doing the housework! Take care.

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416, +2 423, +4 232, +5 237

237 @ +5. oooo! maybe a yellow surf for a b it. Not bad Mannie, Blues are next. I am glad that he has slowed this down, sure hope he doesn't head up as fast as he went down.

Morning Michelle ~O) ~O) ~O) LOL on the patience pants... I have closet full - so needed when you kitty is Mannie. ;-) Many thanks on all - and am looking forward to a trip to the city. it will be fun, and good to get out of the neighborhood.

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416, +2 423, +4 232, +5 237

Wow, Mannie, slow down! I'm glad the IM vetty visit went well, sorry I didn't make here yesterday morning to send vines. How great to get everyone on the same page and have a plan to take care of everything. I hope he tolerates the potassium supplement, and that it makes him feel better. I'm betting he'll gain that last 2% all at once. Oh, nice, I see he listened to me already, and has a nice surf going!

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416, +2 423, +4 232, +5 237, +7 234

:-D :-D :-D Next stop the Blue Lagoon! paws crossed! This is a great yellow surf though! Thanks for the delayed delivery, this bean needs to sleep in every so often!   The triple shots were just what i needed.

Once those new meds start to kick in Mannie should have that last 2% cleared in no time. Have a nice day out, but it sounds like the whole country is gray and chilly! Not a bad one to spend inside getting chores done.

Mannie! Gots all the stuff for lots of Catmint Crisps! Ooooo those radiators sound perfect today! -- Tess

Re: 2/5 Mannie AMPS 416, +2 423, +4 232, +5 237, +7 234

WooHoo, Mannie's coming down beautifully Michelle. Love to see yellow, after ugly morning numbers. :-D :-D
I just can't wait for the day, you tell us he feels 100% ! :-D

Thank you for sweet words about dgd.

Re: 2/5 Mannie PMPS 212

212 @ PMPS. WOW, what a nice start. Mannie ate well at shot time - loved to see that. Now that I know we have an issue with potassium levels and muscle weakness etc I have been really watching how he moves etc. I can so see it now. Here's hoping that the meds start to work soon. I read it can take 2-5 days. With Mannie it will probably take 5, which would be so typical for him. Other than than he seems good today.

Hi Anne - He did -we have had a nice yellow surf for most of the day. That I can accept - sure better than this morning's start. I so agree i the IM vet, and the overall plan, and having someone to coordinate his care. I really hope this will help him. So far it is ok with the potassium. I hope that continues. Yupp, hoping I can say 100% soon. That would be wonderful.

Hi Ann - I hope so on the blue lagoon. maybe tonight. :-D I think so too on the meds and their affect. At least that is what I have read. A coupe of days and we should see improvement. paws crossed again. It has been gray and wet and chilly all day here. winds are up too. Just not a great day to be out in it... so I didn't!

hi Barb - Oh me too ont he yellows - I wouldn't mind it if he surfed where he is now - sure beats where he was last night, and this morning. Me too on the 100%. I so hope it is soon. I will keep you in my thoughts tonight - I am sorry about dgd. always such a hard thing to deal with.

Tess - OOOOOOOOOOOO! Awesome! i so lubs catmint crisps! I agree too on the radiators. it is so cold here.... Off to Rusty's! radiators, cookies, and woodstoves. See you soon!~~ Mannie

Re: 2/5 Mannie PMPS 212

Nice start tonight!!!! Hopefully that potasium goo will start kicking in really soon. Have a great night, Michelle!

Re: 2/5 Mannie PMPS 212

Ohhh, I love that pmps, Michelle! It's so good to see Mannie in good numbers. :-D :-D

Thank you for kind thoughts about Mitch. Susan texted that Dallas the GSD was having a hard time with Mitch being absent.
It's hard on the furry siblings too, when one is gone. Checks looked for his sister for days.

On a happier note, Mannie, Auntie Barb will be expecting to see that you surfed blue all night for your mama! :-D

'Night, Michelle :YMHUG:

Re: 2/5 Mannie PMPS 212, +2 246

246 @ +2 Not too bad of fuds spike. GO MANNIE!

Hi Amy - I hope so too on the potassium. Goo says it well... really messy stuff. It almost requires a face washing after he's been given the stuff. Poor Mannie! ;-)

Hi Barb - Me too on that pmps. I really like this one for him - mainly because it is flat and even, and just good for his recovery. and you are welcome on Mitch. - i can so relate on how hard it is on these siblings... a few years back I had adopted two senior kitties litter mates frm a friend who had to move, could not take his kitties. Well one day the brother crossed, and the sister grieved for the longest time. It was so hard for her to deal with - she watched over him when they were together and once he was gone, she was lost. it took a lot to get her through it. They feel loss just like we humans do. --- 'Night Barb!
Auntie barb!! I will sure try! i like the blues!!   ~~ Mannie, BMG co-founder and president

Re: 2/5 Mannie PMPS 212, +2 246

Hi Michelle,
Very nice start tonight for the Nanner King!! I'm so so glad your IM vet caught the potassium issue and Mannie now has goo to help with that last 2%.

Mannie, i'm still drinking that most wonderful mocha... yum yum yum... i think it's sort of like you kitties getting that high carb gravy...I LOVE it.

Mannie, dude!! I was sleeping all day and missed all the fun. But i got my backpack all ready for tomorrow!!! I can't miss fun 2 days in a row!! oliver

Take good care of all of you.. many hugs, feel good vines, 2% vines
xoxo mary and ollie

Re: 2/5 Mannie PMPS 212, +2 246

I go away today and look what I see when I come back. VERY nice numbers there tonight Mannie! I like how he just skipped over the pink floor today. Mannie, how about another lovely yellow and blue cycle tonight?

It's interesting reading about potassium and high BP. My DF was just diagnosed with higher BP and potassium is one of the things for his list too. I learn so much from LL, and some of it even relates to us beans!

Re: 2/5 Mannie PMPS 212, +2 246

Hi guys, nice sunshine numbers to start the cycle. I hope Mannie decides to slide down a bit into the blues tonight

Hugs,
Kathie

Re: 2/5 Mannie PMPS 212, +2 246, +3.5 294

294 @ +3.5. well darn it - slowly upward... hmmmm hope this stops here. Potassium on board for the evening. That went better tight than last night - we both are getting used to it. He seems, so far, tolerate it well.

Hi roni - me too! sunny yellow has been a good day for him - nice and mellow and EVEN! THX on all, slowly we are getting this all under control. life is good for the manster!

Hi Mary - THX - it is a good evening ad day for him. It is great to have a middle of the road color!! me too on the IM vet. I liked her, the whole time I spent with her. I hope this latest revelation, which was lying under out nose the whole time, will get him back on track. Paws crossed - we both want that 2%! :-D love the new bane for this stuff: GOO - so so true!
Auntie Mary - good stuff huh! My bean loves that one! heeheehee.... so true! we get a gravy you gets really good mocha stuff

Hi Wendy - :-D yupp! it was a good day for him. Blues would have been cool but I really liked today. It was so steady and even and nice. so much Bernete than the roller coaster he has been on for the past month. This was a very good day. It is so true - alot of what we read here does relate to us beans, and sometimes vice versa. I find it so inserting how the more we delve into Mannie, the more we find and learn how it is all interconnected. One just needs to find the right path of treatment, in the core ct order, I so hope that we have ow find that. Paws crossed!

CELI!!!! OMG - how cool to hear from you!! I hope all is well with you and Binks. I LOVE THE Photo! so so you, and so so on target here. I so love a good sense of humor. Mannie says he likes the frames.

Hi Kathie - THX! me too on the blues - he seems to eb heading up, and I so hope he changes his mind,.
:-D
Oliver! DUDE! i wonder where you were today - man i will come next time and wake you up! get ready - we re on the trains tomorrow - I so wanna go back. Think whistle dude, whistle! ~~ Mannie
