It has been a while since Lucy had a condo. I've been too nervous to test her, with all the kitties coming back from the Falls. Even though she has done so well for so long, I still get scared every time I am waiting for that meter to count down. Today I finally did it - whew!!! She is at 46!!! Wow. We have a very special anniversary coming up in a couple of weeks, so watch for our condo then.

Recently I switched to the Freestyle Lite with the new Freestyle Lite test strips. I'm totally sold and I think I can finally retire the other 6 or 7 meters I have all over the house. Some have found that it reads lower, and it did read a tad lower on the one side-by-side test I did on Jazzy with my Aviva, but it was still within range so I'm fine with that. It is SOOOOOO much easier to use that IMHO it should be the only meter sent with newbie kits. The blood requirement is teeny weeny, it sips fast (unlike the older Freestyle I have), and you have a lot of extra time to add more blood if you have a wiggly cat and can't catch enough blood the first time. That feature just came in handy with Lucy, who isn't used to testing anymore and thinks she doesn't need testing because she feels just fine.

Newbies or not-so-newbies who don't know the beginning of our story, please don't let yourself get discouraged. Lucy came back almost from the dead (literally), went through 3 insulins and 17 months on the juice, went up to 4.25 units BID of Lantus (then went down the dosing scale and then went back up to 4.25 again). She made it OTJ and has stayed OTJ, and she is happy and FUN.

Happy Caturday and Oldtimer's day Libby and Lucy:

Great to see this condo. Yes, newbies you should look at her SS. Patience, marathon, all those things. Best of all, you have been paying back and helping all of us. How fantastic is that. Congratulations. Please post a little more frequently. We miss hearing about Lucy and how happy she is.

Have a great day.

Congratulations Libby & Lucy on another day of OTJ cat_pet_icon

What a great pick-me-up for a dreary Saturday!

I know what you mean - those few seconds waiting for the test result take FOREVER. How very nice of Lucy to make the wait worthwhile.

So happy to see you here today! Libby & Lucy, A Legend in LL!!!
You had many ups & downs and hard times with Lucy, and still you are always there for us-
I remember the day Lucy went OTJ after 17 months, and gave hope to us long timers & newbies alike!!
Lantus Land was a very Happy place that day--So I just want to say Thanks for always helping us all, May Lucy spend many more Happy years off the juice...and may Jazzy be the same!! Hugs from US~~

Wow, Lucy, you had a 46 bg! It doesn't get any better! It's so nice to hear how well Lucy is doing and gives the rest of us hope. What a survivor and so encouraging for everyone to hear what she's been thru and look at me now, says Lucy! What - did I hear you say you have 6 or 7 meters in the house. I hope Pat is listening, as I only have three meters! I may just have to buy myself a Freestyle Lite! Seriously, I am so happy Lucy is doing so well, and I hope she continues on for many more years. Enjoy her as their stay with us is never long enough. Take care.

Great Lucy report! So happy she is doing so well. It brings tears to my eyes (happy ones tho) to think of all she's been through (and you too) and to see how happy and healthy she is now. You both are great inspirations!

(((Libby and Lucy)))....what a fantastic report and you two are an inspiration to all! It's so wonderful to hear that Lucy continues to churn out those wonderful numbers. Thanks for the info on the meter, too!!!

Lucy, you rock! What a great Caturday report. And all of us are looking forward to your anniversary celebration in a few weeks.

Thank you Libby (and Lucy and Jazzy) for helping so many people (and kitties) and for giving so liberally of your time!
I think I'll get a FreeStyle Lite after that glowing report. Have been looking for another meter to use as a backup, but after reading your "review", I expect that my ReliOn Micro will become the backup and the Confirm will become the backup to the backup.

Enjoy the weekend,

Ella & Rusty

Yes I LOVE    my freestyle lite I have others for backup but with using Do Lou's feet I like to take as little as possible and those new strips are just the best so wonderful to know Lucy is doing great

I like this about the backups since my goes as freestyle lite main meter, relion micro, relion confirm, relion ultima, and alphatrak reference and I have 3 freestyles yeah way too many LOL

I think I only have a Freestyle, Contour, a ReliOn, two Avivas, and AlphaTrak (I didn't buy this one, it came with Jazzy), and now a Freestyle Lite. That's not too bad for 3 years and two cats. I actually prefer for Lucy and Jazzy to have their own separate meters so I guess I need another Freestyle Lite.

I have sworn my loyalty to Aviva for all this time, but now the Freestyle Lite wins hands down. Lucy is a wiggle worm and Jazzy likes to bite, so if I can sip a tiny drop of blood fast and get a second chance if I miss, that's what I need.

Hi Libby 2 of my freestyles I got for free with signing up for that my freestyle program one in my name and one in Judah's (aka DL)

Libby, with all those meters, you could host a diabetic kitty camp! (Do it!) :-D

Glad to hear that Lucy is doing so well. I have to thank her and you for all the help you've given us!

Lucy!! Sing a song in celebration of passing your test with flying colors!! well. a very nice green, anyway.

I hope you let her snuggle your shoes as a reward for giving you that 46!!

Go Go Go Lucy!!!

Glad to hear Lucy is feeling so fine!
After reading your report last night, you inspired me to look at Siamese kitties on petfinder. I got distracted and never came back to post

meow!

YAY!! A Lucy condo! It is good to read that she is doing so well. I remember your story - it does give us all hope that maybe someday.... though after 3 years one begins to wonder. Love her 46! nice!

Nice too on the meter. It does indeed sound like a good one. :-D

I'm really behind on Condo's. This post made my day. A lot of the time us newbies don't know the stories behind the other kitties and their beans that provide us with so much support. It is nice hearing about Lucy and her being OTJ. Its inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing.
