Happy Caturday!

Kitty is napping on his heated mat, covered with my fleece, on the couch that has now been deeded entirely to him. Whose house is this?? :lol:

This Tuesday, we are taking him for his first OTJ dental cleaning, and getting new digital x-rays. There may be extractions down the road, but I'm hoping to have the chance to get some consultations on the x-rays before making that decision. (He has some complicated dental history.)

Kitty was still on the juice at his last cleaning, and I focused my after-care on monitoring his BG. Anyone know what I should focus on now? I'm not sure whether anesthesia will affect his BG.

And a general dental question - is bupe necessary for a plain cleaning, or only if there are extractions?

Hope everyone is managing to stay warm today, and maybe get an extra snooze in. I-) :YMHUG:

Hi Kathy,

It's like that at my house too with the furniture. We had to get another computer chair because Sara deemed that her spot. After we got the new computer chair one of the other cats said thanks this is nice. ;-) So we used to bring in a kitchen chair for awhile. Now only one of them uses the chairs so we have one.

Good luck with Kitty's dental. I can't answer your question but best of luck on that day.

Yes, they do claim their territory. Tuffy loves my pilates mat and down comfort. What would we do without them.

We'd be lost! Kitty can have every chair/sofa we have, minus 2 seats (one for DH, one for me), and Kitty gets to choose. What am I saying, he already has every chair/sofa we have. :mrgreen:

Happy Caturday, Kathy and Kitty!

Lucy had a dental after she was OTJ, and I really didn't worry about anything (other than the fact that I always worry when somebody is at the vet having a procedure, but no special or extra worries). I believe they gave her bupe for the procedure and maybe a dose afterward, but I didn't bring any home to continue giving her. She had no extractions. She did fine, but I don't know if that is typical or not.

Hi!! :mrgreen: --Both my cats have had dentals in the past 3 yrs...Both had extractions..
Moonie had 5 the first time, and 4 last time--Copper had 5 recently--Gave them both bupe, as they may have had pain, & why should they?--It's not dangerous or anything. given the proper way in the cheek--. Only used for 2-4 days..
Dont get metacam or have them use during the dental, and You know, No Covenia shot--These drugs are dangerous & used frequently during dentals--You could look up Jill's list about having a dental, but since Kitty is OTJ, that makes a difference..I'd still check it out--OK my friends??

Thanks, guys. Good to know his BG won't be an issue with the anesthesia now, also that he shouldn't need additional bupe if there are no extractions.

If there ARE extractions...well, you'll see me here Tuesday in a big way!

Absolutely NO METACAM, NO CONVENIA!

I asked about medications, and was told they sometimes use Meta cam as an anti-inflammatory. cat(2)_steam I said clearly that I didn't want it, and I will say it to their faces on Tuesday, and write it in the chart (on the advice of my attorney :-D ).

aww Kitty will be fine....(he may just pretend he's hurtin' to get some bupe even though he won't need it. I would).
What's with the board? I have been working waaaaay too many hours if this is a surprise to me and no one else!!!! :roll:

Caryl, yes, it's official. You've been working waaaaay too many hours! We had an outage. We came back. We had no smilies. That was bad. You can get smilies back by adjusting the version you're using. What is life without smilies??? confused_cat confused_cat confused_cat :mrgreen:

Yo Kitty! I've had dentals and extractions, but my mamabean doesn't know anything about such things, since they were before I came to live in my new home. So I just want to tell you that it will be OK. Don't freak out your mamabean!

Good luck with the dental for Kitty! I can't wait to schedule Johnny's when he's regulated or OTJ.

FDMB Super Bowl tomorrow. Count up the yellows and the greens! Even though I'm a Steelers fan, I hope the FDMB Super Bowl would be a Packers win because we love our greens. (consolation prize for the real team, haha)

Now, that is a rigged contest, because of all the OTJ kitties of which FDMB is so proud, and who will be busy stuffing their faces with chicken treats while watching all those green numbers run around on the screen, do not have condos!

Unless, of course, you count the yellows as Green Bay votes also, since Green Bay is yellow and green. :mrgreen:

Woke up this morning to a major barf. Is is the FF chicken I let him have again that is causing this recurrence? In any event, I think I'll take him back to the vet before putting him through any anesthesia. :YMSIGH: And it's back to the Turkey for Kitty. :roll:
