Well yikes! Just weighed my chubby chubbs, as he is looking much more rotund!!!! lol. And yup, he is 21 lbs. Dang it!

It's not overly crazy for him, we have regular weighs over the last 8 years. He is a big boy sure, but also fat, there is no doubt.

Rescued in 2015 - 16.3 lbs
2016 -2021 - hovered around 18-19.5 lbs
July 2022 - topped out at 22 lbs, we started serious diet and weight control. (I didn't know what I know now) got him back to 19 lbs late Sept.
Oct 2022 - diagnosed with FD - 16.7 lbs (insulin started nov 2)
Dec 15,22 - 19.8 lbs (has been holding at 19-20 until now)
Now at 21, I am concerned this could create a big setback for him.
As per the vet he needs a calorie reduction to 230kcal/day. He's been getting close to that at 2 1/2 cans FF/ day and treats for shots/test (it's closer to 250-260).
It's been tough to keep the calorie count down, and keep him happily fed, I think I may need to do further research on lower calorie foods. He really does begrudge that empty food dish. I want to keep him happily fed, but not kill him with kindness as I have done in the past.

It's a tough balance.
He is 8/9 on the WASA Body condition chart (the industry standard) and using another measure I calculated his FBMI is 35 (30-42=overweight, +42 obese).
So...... long story short. I think we will conquer Diabetes!!!! he's doing so well..... but now I am worried again his weight gain will push him back prematurely. He's 17, so I hope to still have for a little while longer, I don't think i am thinking rationally right now
FWIW: Vet says Ideal weight is 5.4 kg (12lbs) which has always shocked me. I did a couple of the online calculators and got a range of 14.7 to 17.2. (silly me using google MD to figure this out)
