Rosie has been having lower AMPS lately. Usually stall 30 min and it is OK to shoot.

Today AMPS was 40. After 30 min stall she is now at 37. Do I continue to stall or feed now because she is still dropping?

Previous.

15 min later she is now 43. I'm feeding, but don't know what to do WRT shot. NS, BCS or something else?

I have supplies and can monitor.

Hope Rosie comes up so you can shoot as usual. Hope experienced members chime in. Seems like BCS would be good so something gets added to the depot. Or if you can be off schedule you could shoot 18 hrs. off the last shot so you can feed her now and let her rise.

Yikes, Rosie! 30's at pre-shot time???? Way to make a point!

I'm also hoping that some members experienced with over-5U dosing can offer input. If it were my cat, I'd probably do a NS to drain the depot a bit because she was so low and any rise now can't be disentangled from food influence, but that is not based on expertise, just caution. Hopefully some experts will be able to offer opinions in time.

The LagoonMeisterin is on her way with the water wings!!

Retested. Still 33. Will offer another small serving HC. She go really excited when her autofeeder opened, but once she realized it was the "normal" food and not this yummy stuff, she walked away without touching it.

I'd add a little more syrup too

And I think tomorrow you might want to do a real depot draining dose (as long as she's high enough for insulin at all)

Thanks for being here Chris. Yes. Added syrup. She is slowing down in terms of eating, but at least licking the gravy.

I'm completely lost regarding what to do tomorrow.

Keep going....lather, rinse, repeat until she's at least in the mid-50's but I think it's going to be a long night

Once she's really up, you can test 30 minutes later...then if she's still going up (and not by just a couple points) maybe wait an hour, but if she drops back down at any time, you have to start over

We suggest testing every 30 minutes for an hour, and then 1 more test an hour later so that you're testing for 2 hours from the last time you have to feed anything HC

Nothing unusual in terms of behavior. I'm "looking" for any type of symptoms and don't see them. She is responsive when I'm talking to her and since she didn't care for the syringe much, I just offered her some butter with sugar in it. She really liked that.

Personally, unless she was clearly skyrocketing by the AM, I would think about skipping. That depot is seriously overfull and you have a somewhat larger dose depot to deal with. If she comes up significantly, I'd still think half dose.

BTW, when you are over 5 units, I'd still do a 0.5 unit reduction instead of just 0.25. Got caught with a 20's when I did the same thing myself. :banghead: Neko didn't show signs in the 20's either.

Anything below 40 means karo. The amount you gave before seems too little.

While this is the first time I have had to break out the Karo, she has done this before (sudden dives). I was trying to get through it without NS, BCS due to my own panic. Needless to say, panic doesn't quite cover this...

This was .5ml syrup with a butter /sugar chaser. She didn't like the syrup syringe so I offered her a "treat" of butter with sugar in it. She really like that.
Whatever works at this point. I'll be watching for your next test. Once you get her over 50, we'll cut the food/syrup to see if she can maintain without help.

You do get a heightened sense of adrenaline when you see the 20's. A skip will also let you sleep tomorrow, which you'll probably need.
I totally agree. At this point, I think a skip in the morning is the best option, but the next hour or so will tell us how much longer you'll need to monitor. I can hang around another 1.5-2 hours if needed, and then hopefully, if you need further help, some East Coasters will be available.

Oh my goodness!!!!!! Rosie!

Is the ER close? You've been keeping her going with karo/butter+sugar for a long time now, it might be time to let the pros take it from here.
