Hope everyone is doing well today. Sorry for the lack of responses yesterday-it was another crazy day.

So, Fred had a nice hour or so in hypo on Wednesday. I was out for the afternoon and just had a bad feeling something was going to happen, even with such a high pre-shot. I think we get that in tune with our babies! I tore home, and sure enough! I was relatively calm about it (for me..lol) because he was just about at his nadir. I resisted carbing him up with anything other than his normal food, but I did go for a smear of Karo to get out of immediate danger. He came up to safety quickly. I really thought he'd be high by PMPS, but not so much.

A bit of the same yesterday. He is now bouncing all over the place. *sigh* I know it makes him feel crummy.

When the vet said Fred likely should have been hospitalized, I felt beyond horrid. Of all times, I was away for the worst of it, or I absolutely would have brought him in, at least for the day. But leaving him overnight, in Fred's case, would probably have made him worse. He will NOT eat at the vet. Of course, if he was in any kind of worse state, we'd have no choice. I really need to learn to do fluids at home!

I doubt he needed to be hospitalized and you don’t know if he had a symptomatic hypo. His bg might have just been low. Did you test before you left?

Hi my vet showed me how to give fluids to Tyler's brother.
It was actually very easy, Perry was a mellow cat so he stayed still for me, I would just talk to him while doing it.
They have syringes that are bigger so the fluid comes out quicker and smaller ones where it comes out slower.
I would just put him in the kitchen table on a towel and hand the bad up on the wall next to the kitchen table . I used one if those sticky things you press on the wall, forgot the name and hang the bag on that.

Fred was under the bed when I left. As per the camera I have on them, he had a little snack from the timer just before +3, and then that was it. On the thankfully few occasions that he has been in hypo range, his symptoms are ravenous hunger and a little agitation, mostly because he really wants food. He snarfed down his wet food that day like I have not seen him do in I don't even know HOW long!

@Diane Tyler's Mom Great info, thank you!

@Wendy&Neko For your question yesterday, Fred seems to be one of the only cats out there who can resist Churus! Other than chicken PureBites, which are his crack, he will take no treats. You should see me trying to get pills to stick to the PureBites...it'll work maybe once, and then he's wise to it. I am really getting concerned about food aversion.

He's a little pokey today. He resisted breakfast big time, but as it had the gabapentin in it, I pulled out every trick to try and get him to finish. I know the gaba makes them a little dopey. I also decided to give a Zofran shot, and I think the gaba sure did help with that! He didn't even seem to notice it going in.

What does 4 I mean in the dose column last night? Would be lovely if you could stick the same dose for a while and not change it based on preshots.

Too bad on the Churos. We had one member who stuffed pills in a piece of sashimi. Does he eat cooked meat at all? I've seen chicken hearts advertised as natural pill pockets.

@Wendy&Neko It stood for 4 lite. My husband did the injection last night, and he said he wasn't 100% sure every drop went in. I do want to stick to a dose...I just get so nervous when I don't know if he'll eat or not.

He does like chicken breast-in fact, for the first time in AGES, he came down and begged at dinner last night. We were having chicken. So he did get a few very plain pieces. He was acting the best I've seen him in forever...likely because he got a shot of Zofran. (which he didn't even feel, thanks to the gabapentin!)

My very first cat was absolutely mad for raw chicken liver. My mother would make it for him on very few occasions as a treat. Used to gross me out to no end! ;-)

I didn’t un the 4 I either. I’m trying to figure out

Fred’s special combo: Gabapentin and Zofran!
