Keeping Les (@Gussie's mom) in our hearts this evening: Gussie has arrived safely at the Bridge.

Hi Everyone,

Rusty had a good day and ate pretty well again. He and Edward spent the afternoon together because I was out trying to see if my skiing is good enough to do a ski trip on Monday (inconclusive). We have great snow right now.
Ice Carnival starts officially tonight with the lighting of the Ice Palace. The ice sculpture of a moose out in front of the palace is particularly impressive. Tomorrow the "games" begin. We plan to watch the Ladies' frying pan toss, the Woodsman's competition, and the Curling demonstration. I may participate in the Curling competition for non-curlers: for $5 you get three tries to "hit the button".
The weather is great: cold with some sun and some snow flurries.

Rusty's looking good, keeping warm in the lagoon. :D

Sounds like you have perfect weather for a winter carnival. Good luck with the curling. I'll always remember the kitty curling from the last Olympics. We got snow again too. :arghh:

Wow, that sounds like quite an event. Definately nothing of those sorts out here in Southern Califoria! I want to see a moose sculpture and ladies' frting pass toss..we sure get jipped here in S. Cal when it comes to winter activities. The most exciting part of my winter so far was discovering a small leak in my roof after it rained pretty hard here. We did get some historic rain so I guess we got to join the rest of the nation in winter storm ratings.

I had to try to look this up because I was so intrigued by the idea of an ice castle. Is this at Saranac Lake? I found some videos and the history of the Saranac Lake Ice Castle and it's pretty amazing!
Yup. I'm in Saranac Lake NY. The Ice Castle is always amazing, even in years when the ice isn't great. Local volunteers do the whole thing. I'm posting a picture in Rusty's condo for today (Feb. 4th).
