Sorry we keep dropping out of existence for a week at a time. Life is just life and I seem to only manage to get on here either during problems or if we are stumped about his dose.

We've been holding at 3.75 and other than that one wonky low, not too much is happening. I am thinking about maybe going back up to 4 on the weekend. I'm going to try to get dh to test at +4 the next few nights to see if that is any lower than the +5 he's been doing. I wish his numbers would pull down more.

Otherwise he is doing well. Just being really picky about food and only eating one flavor.

I welcome any thoughts on his chart. I've been confused about the few days where he was high in the morning and low by pmps. I know I should be getting in a test during the day, but I continue to suck at it and have been too bogged down with children to get it in. But he is given tons of attention during the day and is rarely alone.

Hi Jenny - I admire people who have small children and a diabetic cat. And you are still getting a good number tests in, so good job.

I too wonder about those days where he starts higher and ends up with a blue PMPS. I know it's hard to get day time tests, but is there any chance of getting one or two before the weekend? Maybe on a day when he starts in the yellows? I'm a little concerned about increasing the dose when you got that 55 on the PM cycle of 1/21. If you are following the Start Low Go Slow protocol, that 55 would have meant lowering to 3.5 units. And if you'd tested 1/2 hour later, you might even have hit the 50 mark below which we reduce in the Tight Regulation protocol. Getting those +4 tests at night might also help determine what he's doing on this dose, as Chianti does seem to like to dive early in the cycle.

I will see if I can get one or two in this week. I do suck at it though - he sits so nicely for dh. But for me he shakes his head and paws it, then we E13, then children run in (or my toddler chooses that moment to climb a cat tower) as I'm trying not to swear or chuck the meter across the room. It is great fun. But oddly enough I am good at the insulin. If I don't get any in I will get dh to do some kind of a curve on Saturday.

We almost decreased at that 55, but then decided to hold it another cycle or two since he responds well with food. And then he just seemed to go back up and level. And then on the few times he's started lower he confuses me by either being flat at the spot check or already going back up. He confuses me.

Our lantus is 4 months old. I have new pens that just came but there is still maybe a 1/4 to an 1/8 of the vial left I was hoping to still use since it is still clear.

We've had members get 5-6 months out of a vial. As long as it's still clear, you should be good.
