Bart's SS I use the relion u-100 with the half mark. The last two mornings he has been in the 500's as you can see. I'm going to do a curve on him on Sunday to see what he does through out the day.

oh sorry, debby. i posted on your condo from yesterday - didn't realize it wasn't today's. you could look there and answer my questions here, that'll get things back on track.

just wanted to make sure you saw this in your condo from yesterday.

ok, i just wanted to make sure you had the right syringes. my vet switched our insulin from one that used a u-40 needle to lantus, which needs a u-100 syringe. when you said the dose at .2 i thought you might have the other ones.

there are a couple of options (i think) on why he might be that high at amps. one is that he needs more insulin, the other is that he's bouncing from a low number somewhere in there. as you are gathering data we'll be able to figure it out.

a third possibility might be if the lantus isn't good, but each time you've increased the dose he seems to have a blue number thrown in there. i saw you joined here in october - is the lantus that old? do you know when you had a new vial/pen?

and another check - have you looked at the yellow starred sticky on taking care of your lantus? no leaving the lantus out, no shaking it, no see-sawing the insulin between the syringe and the bottle as you draw up the dose?

Hi Debby

I haven't been on your condo yet to welcome you and Bart to LL! We hope you'll ask lots of questions and we'll get Bart on the right track to lots of normal numbers.

If you can take a few minutes, we'd really appreciate it if you could do a profile for Bart. It allows us a quick reference to see his history, meds, foods, etc. so when we're helping you, if there is anything we need to be aware of, we can find it on his profile. Here are the instructions: Creating a Profile

If you have any problems with the instructions, please let me know and I'll help you.

Also, if you could link your previous day's condo in the current day's condo, we'd appreciate it...it allows us to go back quickly and see any info from the previous day. All you have to do is copy the browser address from the previous day's condo, bring it to the current day's condo, put your cursor in the text box, click on the [url} button and paste it in between the two url boxes so it looks like this: paste your link here

Here's yesterday's condo: 2/2 Condo

Thanks Debby and have a great evening.

Good morning I bought his lantus in Sept the pharmacy told me it was good for 6 months. I think that its still working he does drop some and its still clear. I'm getting a new one next week when he sees the vet. He was 500 this morning. I will update later today. Have to leave for work now. Thank you again for your help.

6 months is the absolute outside for your Lantus to be any good. My guess is that your Lantus is toast. There's minimal consistency to the numbers which is one of the things we often see if the insulin has lost its potency. The manufacturer (Sanofi) states that Lantus is good for 28 days once the container is opened. Many people do get much longer use. FWIW, I change out Gabby's insulin within 40 days.

Also, are you rolling or shaking your insulin. If so, you definitely need new Lantus. Lantus doe not require "mixing."
