Well, well, well, looks like Zener spent the night in the lagoon.  Appy is pretty good this morning. I did have to do a little chasing with the bowl, and he had a picnic and finished with breffis in bed with Anne (who is still asleep).

OT: Both beans are on the mend, slowly but surely.

Thinking of ailing kitties and grieving beans this morning. Safe travels to Rusty and beans. Happy Fursday LL!
Liz

Re: 2/28 Zener AMPS 62

Morning   wow, it sure does look like Zener was doing quite a bit of splashing in the Green Lagoon. I get such a kick out of Zener having breffifs in bed with Anne Bean, who is sleeping. Does he eat quiet? Mags slurps! Glad you and Anne are on the mend and extra vines on the way to get thru the day. Keep on surfing Zener. Have a great day.

Re: 2/28 Zener AMPS 62

Wow on that AMPS - way to go, Zener! I'm glad you are both on the mend. So funny that Anne can sleep through Z's eating...I am jealous! Every little sound wakes me up.

Surf it, Z!! Have a great day, guys!

Re: 2/28 Zener AMPS 62

Look at that green AMPS! Nice Zener! :-D Glad he ate after a little coaxing. Hope you both keep getting better. Have a great day!

Re: 2/28 Zener AMPS 62

I'm glad to hear the beans are feeling better.

It looks like Zener and Gabby decided to hang out together this morning.

Re: 2/28 Zener AMPS 62;+1 105;+2 123;+3 108;+4 168

Thanks all for stopping in with encouragement for the mighty Z. Looks like he is on the way up now but still blue. Appy has disappeared so it's a good thing his numbers are on the rise. We are now down to only one food that he will eat with any regularity and trying everything else we can possible try (again). Looks like a bit of appy stimulant may be in his future tonight. He sniffs and licks like he wants to eat, then turns away, so it could be his teeth. We have an appointment with our vet on Tuesday to see if we have to do a dental. We sure dread it as ABs will stop him eating and we had such a hard time with it all last year.

Any suggestions for ABs for pre-dental that are not so hard on the appy? We will see our vet Tuesday so we want to have a list of possible ABs to discuss.

Re: 2/28 Zener AMPS 62;+1 105;+2 123;+3 108;+4 168

Wrong way, Zener! Sorry about the appy, but as you said if that is off it's just as good to see a little rise.

Tess felt just awful w/ Clavamox when she had UTIs and the vet switched her to Orbax (related to Baytril) and after her last dental the vet put her on it again and no appy issues then either.

Re: 2/28 Zener AMPS 62;+1 105;+2 123;+3 108;+4 168;+5.5 200

Oh poor Zener, sorry he won't eat and sending good appy vines. I can't remember if Zener will eat baby food. I know there are some kitties here who won't eat it. Mags is doing really well on Orbax, and it hasn't affected her appetite insofar as eating; she's just been a bit picky. The Orbax is for a UTI/kidney infection though. I'll have to look back and see what they gave Mags last dental. I hope the appetite stimulant will help.

ETA -- I just read above Ann & Tess also suggested Orbax, too.

I don't have any suggestions on the AB, but I hope you can find something that won't affect Zener's appy if he has to have a dental done. I hope he doesn't go too high today. I'm glad you both are feeling better. I hope you get over it quickly.

Re: 2/28 Zener PMPS 202

We gave a little sliver of appy stimulant cypro at +10.5 and at PMPS he was ready to eat. We keep him on maintenance anti-nausea meds, ondansetron and also cerenia tablets (3x/wk) so we can use appy stimulant as needed without worrying about inducing appetite in a nauseated cat (thank you Karrie for our education). We expected his numbers to bounce up after the jump to the yellow floor at mid-cycle but he just stayed surfing the low yellows the rest of the cycle. It's always a surprise.

@Ann & Maggie - Zener is a pretty quiet eater and I sleep very soundly, so I miss the whole thing.

@Amy & TrixieCat - always a little  from the beans with those green pre-shots. Fortunately he ate enough this morning to keep from diving, and perhaps with a little bounce thrown in for good measure.

@Melissa & Mr T - it was up from then on, then a flat low yellow surf into PMPS.

@Sienne - Zener didn't hang in the lagoon for long this morning. Time will tell if he gets back there again tonight.

@Michelle & Mannie - we must have jinxed the morning appy. Drat! He got on his surf board on the yellow floor, beats the heck out of those other colors that shall not be named.

@Lisa & Do Lou - thanks for stopping in, we are wishing Do Lou the happiest of birthdays, what a story! :-D

@Roni - we are so honored to have you stop in and check on the mighty Z. We sure miss our buddy Moonie, and know all is well at the bridge now that Moonie is there to get things sorted out. Thanks for the healing vines. This cold is a nasty hanger-on.

@Ann & Tess - thanks for the info on Orbax. :YMHUG: I emailed our vet about it. She said they don't use it regularly, only in cases of UTI/kidney infections that are hard to treat. She is perfectly willing to have some on hand for us to use with Zener if we prefer. Normally she uses clindamycin for pre-dental ABs because of its specificity for mouth bacteria, but she also is well aware of Zener's appy issues. We'll talk more about it Tuesday after she has a look at his mouth for the possible dental.

@Ann & Maggie - thanks for the info on Orbax too! The appy stimulant is working well and he is eating enough so far tonight. Appy issues are so stressful. :?

@carla - this is the most incredible place to find out about all the possible options for treatment, we are so grateful! Z is following your instructions to not go too high.

Thanks everyone for chiming in on dental ABs and appy effects. We are happy to read other suggestions too!

We have an appointment with our vet on Tuesday to take a look and see if it's time. And if so, make a plan to accommodate all his conditions. Our vet uses ABs pre-dental but does not regular use any post-dental unless complications. That's good news for Zener's appy issues. We'll keep everyone posted on the visit next week. If a dental is necessary, we plan to schedule it during spring break week, when we are off from work and be here during the day.

Beans are worn out from going back to work with the last dregs of the cold still hanging on. Thanks for all the healing vines for the beans!

Wishing all in LL a drama-free Fursday evening.

Re: 2/28 Zener PMPS 202;+2 200

Hmmmm, flat yellow... appy chemically happy. ;-)

@Claudia - thanks for sending the beans some healing vines. And kisses delivered to the mighty Z as requested. Of course, he had to act a little bit like we have bean cooties.

Re: 2/28 Zener PMPS 202;+2 200

We'll take happy appy, no matter what it takes! VERY nice day cycle. Flat on the yellow start, but paws crossed for a return of the blues tonight.

Re: 2/28 Zener PMPS 202;+2 200;+3 115

Back to the blue grotto, in a diving sort of fashion.

@Wendy & Neko - Zener is reading his condo again, return to blue as requested. ;-)

More tests to come this Fursday evening. ~O)

Nice blue Zener, surf further into the green!
Good luck with the vet visit Liz!

Pull out the PJs....oh wait...you've probably been wearing them!

Glad Zmans appy is better with drugs and that the girls are on the mend. I'm sorry to hear you've both been sick.

When is Liz coming? Must put on my calendar.

Hope he has a nice surf and doesn't keep you all up late.
