Good morning! We were having a great run BUT this morning I was floored to see a AMBG of 139 :( It was 262 on the Alpha Trak (same blood). Is there any possible way this could be a food spike? I feel like tripling her normal number is much more than just food. Another part of me is wondering if the kids left cookie crumbs somewhere!! :banghead:

Anyway, I obviously did not give insulin given her levels over the past week but is this something you see in remission cats? Is this a sign we are headed back for insulin? Would love to know what your experiences have been!

OTJ Recap:
2/21/17 - AM (no strips) PM 63
2/22/17 - AM 56 PM 60
2/23/17 - AM 53 PM 58
2/24/17 - AM 48 PM 32
2/25/17 - AM 52 PM 58
2/26/17 - AM 48 PM 58
2/27/17 - AM 58 PM 48
2/28/17 - AM 139

Don't panic. You can get an odd number like that for different reasons. I don't know what your schedule is, but we usually tell people to get a +3 test and if it is green not to worry because she brought herself down.

It's a work day so no one is home today. If she's high again this evening I can do some testing. If her number is high at dinner time would I still feed and then get a +3 or delay dinner to get another pre-meal number?

If she's still higher at dinner, feed like your normally would and test again at +3 to see if she's brought herself down. Hopefully she just found some crumbs somewhere. It's not unusual for some cats to pop a blue number during an OTJ trial.
Thank you! I'll follow up tonight and let you know what she's doing. Fingers and toes crossed!!! :nailbiting:

I wouldn't worry, we's seen Bubba going back up for one cycle and go back down.
I'd keep food as is and test later (+5), then you'll know if food is affecting GL.

Everything should be fine.

I just walked in the door from work and she's at 70 (134 on AT). It's still 2 hours before she's due to eat, I'll take another right before she eats and before bed. Glad it has come down a lot!

I'm glad Stormy brought her numbers down. On the last day of Furball's OTJ trial, her PMBG number was 147. When I tested her a couple of hours later she had gone up to 209. The next day she brought her numbers back down to green. Sometimes something just upsets their system.

Man, why do they have to do that to us?!?

Back to normal for PMBG 44
I'd say her pancreas is working alright. :D

Keep in mind, we don't test non-diabetic cats, so we don't know how much their BG might fluctuate during the day. I'd suspect it's more than we think. As long as she brings herself back down, things are going okay.
