Sid is lucky I love him because I hardly batted an eye when I watched him back up to the wall in the dining room and, yes, spray the electrical outlet. He has never done that before. He usually sprays in the litter box. OH well. So I will probably have to put a litter box there to join the litter box that is already in the living room. New flooring is in my immediate future. This is an off topic but if anyone knows of the best flooring to use with cats who pee, poop, vomit, scratch and everything else they do to floors, please point me in the right direction. I've been doing research and am thinking Pergo wood.

He is still the same - eating, purring, peeing (!!), a little bit more solid stool, had some catnip tonight, and a little puke during the day. Not sure what is going on with that, but the only new thing in the last few days that coincides with the vomit is the fortiflora. last night I gave him 1/2 packet instead of the whole thing.

Seriously Sid, spraying the electrical outlet? :shock: I had one male cat that sprayed, what a pain. If you suspect the fortiflora is causing the pukus, I would stop giving it for a day or two and see if it helps. You could try plain yogurt or a probiotic like acidophilus instead of the FF. How is his breathing?

About his SS...it looks like he has settled into the 1.2u dose, six cycles is plenty of time. It looks to me like you could take the dose up anytime if you are comfortable doing that. He has room to go up 0.2u IMHO, but if you are concerned about not being able to monitor, you could try 0.1u instead. What do you think?

yes, Sid is a sprayer. That's why he was relinquished to the sanctuary where I adopted him from. He uses the litter box the majority of the time to his credit. So I know about this behavior and I work with him (and plan to get new flooring).

I should probably wait until the weekend to up the dose a bit just so I can monitor better. Only because I don't want him going too low when I'm at work and can't check him. I think that happened on Monday when he spiked up to 500 in less than an hour.

I need to count his breaths!! I know that and will do that in a few minutes and report back. The breathing just by my casual observation is a bit better - still fast but not quite as deep as last week. He gets nebulized 1x per day. I was doing twice but he is honestly really scared of the nebulizer and I think it freaks him out because he runs and hides after I let him out of the carrier. So the last 3 days I have only nebulized him once every evening for 15 minutes. I also have a vaporizer running non stop in the room where he spends most of his time.

I will stop the ff tonight and pick up some acidolphus for him.
 
I just tried to check Sid's breathing rate but was not successful - I can just tell you from observation that it is fast. The vet told me to count his breaths when he is sleeping, but as soon as he sees me, he gets up and follows me around because he thinks he will get some FUD! If I catch him sleeping, I will count his breaths to know for certain, but until then, his breathing is quite fast :sad:
 
I can understand you wanting to wait until the weekend, Lydia. He had a decent PMPS tonight, so maybe he will come down a bit more.

I just wondered if he seemed to be breathing a little bit easier, and it sounds like he is. It does take a while to recover from pneumonia, so as long as you are seeing some improvement, that's good! I think you are doing a great job....I don't want to make you worry about it. :YMHUG: It is hard to catch them sleeping to count their breaths...I have an asthma kitty, so I know how that is!

Hi Lydia, Looking at Sid's SS. 2/29 should be 2/28 ;-) I would stick to 1.2 Why do you feel the need to go up? I am also seeing a pattern that when you give famotidine that his next cycle goes high. It also looks like his numbers come down when you feed at +1 through +4 and I don't see that during his 4:00 & 12:30? I could be wrong. Maybe you did but didn't log it?

As far as flooring. There are carpet tiles that's an option? I actually put down fake tile (like marble looking) I don't remember the correct name, but it was peel and press type tile flooring. I used where my litter boxes are. I bought an armoire at a garage sale and removed the backing so I could fit one of those huge litter tubs. I have to keep it somewhat away from the wall, but the double doors in front makes it easy to clean :-D I'm sorry his spraying :YMSIGH: you're such a good mommy! I'll check back soon!

@Michelle - I've been putting food in feeders for the +1 to +4 feedings. I will have to check the SS and make sure it is noted.
 
If Sid is a sprayer do you know about Nature's Miracle? I used this when my last cat was sick, and my Mom's cat had some spraying issues and it saved her rugs and furniture. Really great stuff, an enzyme that gets rid of any smell from the bacteria.

Someone in my household used to spray in the corners of the "blue room" where Grayson used to spend most of his time. Because they rarely went in front of me, pinpointing the culprit was the challenge. I noted previously that most everyone in my house was a feral that showed up for food/water. Post-neuter, vaccines and FIV/Leuk testing, they came in and were added onto "the payroll" (see how easy it is, Kim?!!!). Because many of them used to pee upwards on trees, my corners were taking a beating. There is now a Rubbermaid tub in each corner, filled w/ kitty litter.

It was only after Grayson's diagnosis that I realized he was the one going next to the box... because he couldn't get into the litter tubs (18" tall) as his back legs weren't working well.

My point is, while this was going on, sometimes and outlet would get peed upon. At one point, I lost power to another outlet. Speculating that was the problem, I replaced the outlet and voila! The other one was working again! I have heart pine floors, which are a very soft wood. They need to be refinished, but until I got a handle on the peeing thing, it was a moot point. Vinegar - just plain white vinegar - works well to take the smell out - floors, walls, baseboards, linens (a former dog had a skin condition - just pour about a cup or more in your washing machine with each load of stinky dog blankets or soiled laundry). I also like the Lysol w/ lemon to clean as well.

I'm happy to report that there is no more peeing taking place in the blue room, and Grayson is quite fond of his lower litter boxes, and the little step I put in front of his tall one. Tonight - for the first time... he jumped on the kitchen counter. Normally that would be greeted with a spray bottle, but I have to admit, I was THRILLED to see his legs are starting to kick in again!!!
