She has about a third of her breakfast left in her bowl.
She normally leaves some of it and goes back later for lunch.

Good morning Amy.

That +8.5 showed that she's bouncing and it hasn't cleared yet. It's too soon to see a pattern in her bouncing...last time it took 4 cycles to get back to green, but it could be different this time.

You left food out for her, can DH keep an eye on her consumption and make sure she has more food if she finishes it all? Many cats get hungry when they go low, and will feed their own curve.

You are doing great!

Nice worry free day today after all the excitement yesterday. There is an upside to bounces! :lol: :? at least for the beans!

I couldn't stay away!

Ruby looks so regal in that picture, which is sooooo far from her real personality. She's either being a total goofball (rolling around, waving her feet in the air and wanting her tummy rubbed) or scolding me for doing something wrong. She's very good at scolding. :lol:

I inherited them from my sister after they were left to their own devices in her house for almost 6 years :shock:

Binks and I had never even HEARD of "Tortie-tude"...
now it's our code word for danger and craziness :lol:

the looks on their faces pretty much sums it all up... :roll:

(gotta admit, though- I love 'em)

I recognize that look on Annie's face! That what I get from Ru every time she sees me coming with the meter in my hand. I try to hide it and hold up a bit of freeze dried chicken to distract her but that only works for a second. :smile:

Ru's got a particularly gravely, snarky sounding voice. The husband will hear her from other room and say "Wowza, what did you do to her now?"

One thing I've learned with my Ruby...you never know what direction she's going to come from. She's the master of curve balls!
Last night I did automatically wake up at 3:30 AM to put up the food bowl and test her. ohmygod_smile

Smudgie was born to a feral in a ground owl burrow near the prison where my sister worked.
Sis heard screaming...found a badger attacking Momma and litter...
but only Smudge and her brother survived- that's how she got the shredded ear.

I have to say...she comes by her attitude righteously :-D :-D

Flat cat indeed! That's quite enough yellow, Ruby....a little blue and green would be very nice!

I have a tortie too, love the tortitude. :smile: I didn't know the story of how your DS got Smudge, Celi....that's so sad, but at least DS was able to save the two of them... :sad:

She decided to take a walk after this test and headed straight to her dish. She had only eaten about half of dinner and its getting to be snack time anyway.

You know, I just was dozing off on the sofa and thought to myself "She's been flat all day. Tonight I get to go to bed early! I'll test her before I turn in."

Ha! Ruby, Ruby, Ruby...you are my girl!

Nice flat cycle...could mean she means business tonight...and that 111 at +4.....she may need some tests tonight.

She is so adorable..I love tortis...had a wonderful one myself...what a personality!

Looking at her SS. BRB. please feed a little more LC and retest in 30. I'll be here. Pls check back in a few minutes in case I have any other ideas after I look at her SS.

ETA Looks like you might have a little while to go before nadir and she came 16 in 30 mins. You can mix a tiny bit of MC in with the LC...sure would like her to surf here. Don't put in too much MC.

Oh, I know its in my signature, but don't forget these are Alpha numbers. I can tell you that mine will normally test 20 to 30 higher than a Relion Micro at this end of the scale.

Right...I just want to be sure she slows down a bit...don't mind her getting into the 80s on the AT and wouldnlove her to hang out there a bit. Glad you fed her more..let's see how she responds. Please test and post 30 mins from when she ate.

i don't know about the carb content of any of those, but generally if they say "gravy" that's a fairly good carb count.

ruby's looking pretty good. it'd be great if we keep her surfing with a little bit of low carb.

I'm fine. I'm kind of getting used to this. I've got a whole hypo kit and I have you all. What more could I need? :smile:

I've only fed her the LC so far. If she doesn't go down on this next test in 10 minutes I'd like to stick with the LC to see if she'll surf thru it rather than a little spike like the other day. Is that ok?
She's not acting wonky or anything. She sees me coming with the freeze dried chicken bits and she's as happy as she can be with me poking her ears all the time.

Perfect! Great place for her to surf. I'd retest in 30 to make sure she is holding it. If she's hungry...you can give her a teeny bit of LC.

I'm so sorry but I don't feed Fancy Feast so not sure which ones are MC ....which is roughly 11-16%. Looks like you won't need it right now :-D Janet and Binkys chart has some FF varieties but I have a hard time posting that from my iPad.

I like to get two rising numbers without food before going to hourly tests. So could you please post in another 30 and we'll see where she is.

As soon as I know Julie is around to check in on you, I'm headed for bed. Hope you aren't up too late

Sorry for the delayed response. As I was finishing this post, my DH tested Gracie and said the meter showed LO. Major heart attack but retested with two other meters and she's 50 . :-D

that sounds like a great plan. the more you can keep her in these great numbers and not over-carb her, the better. this surf is awesome.

welllllll i still perk up and pay attention! :mrgreen: but punkin has acromegaly so we haven't been there that often.

ruby's in perfect numbers tonight! i'll still be up for another hour or so. i'll look for you again in 30 minutes.

we just like to see 2 numbers that are holding or rising without the need for any food before you head for bed. i have perfected the "sleep for 30 minutes and retest" plan. hope you're not too wiped out. i'll check back again in a few. :YMHUG:

I'll test her about 10 minutes.

She last ate at 10:50-ish. If she is still going up by 1:00 or 1:30 is it safe to let her rest? I've been getting up around 3:00 to pick up the food bowls and I get up at 5:00.
