Last night:
pmps-354 ( pred cycle-pred stalled 1.75hrs)
+1.75-278
+5-302 (usually pred peak -+3 from administering it)...but next # shows I was wrong)
+6-384
amps-334 (f1.5)

yesterday
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7577

I laid down after my last post yesterday and took my temp. No wonder I felt so crappy! I get a temp when Im sick, maybe once every 5yrs. I did read my responses once I woke before going back to bed, but too tired to respond. I decided to stick with the f1.5 one more cycle, just in case she really does break this possible bounce on the 4th cycle. Her amps are potentially somewhat inflated by kibble which she ate at +5 and +6. I avoided it as long as I could, but even with the appy stimulant she was not eating anything other than babyfood...and well, after opening 4 cans of food, being sick myself, her not eating all day... she needed to eat. She did and I was then able to take 1/2 dose nyquil. ahhhhh! (the downside of the sole caretaker...ALWAYS have to make sure YOU can be alert).

Appy- did not eat well even with stimulant (cypro). Not eating well this a.m., either. If she is not eating by +2, I will administer another dose of cypro. This potentially means more kibble today. Blah! The only reason cypro does not work for her is if I give it regularly (every day for weeks or months), OR if she really has some GI upset. i see the third eyelids a little more prominent yesterday/today, so its possible she is feeling as poorly as I! If todays cypro does not work I think I will be brave and try out the mirtz tomorrow, since it supposably has a anti-nausea affect to it. I will stay home, and the vet will be around all day in case she has a bad reaction to it. For me to consider the mirtz so strongly, sadly means things are really not good in this aspect.

Vet Stuff- Im going to try and schedule an appt or at least a blood draw at the university by mid march to follow up on her renal values and the metabolic acidosis. I have a slight suspicion things might be digressing here, thus causing the significant lack of appetite. I think if it was soley GI related she would be vomiting more than she has been (*anti-jinx). We also need further discussion on safe pain meds for her, and splitting her pred...or possibly even reducing it, if its not helping her eat as it used to. I wish I could do it tomorrow, but *mula* often stands in the way, ya know. Im also going to schedule time with the social worker at the university, to sort through a lot of what is going on in my head. Im beginning to fear that I am holding on longer than I should be...that she is dying...slowly suffering...never going to improve....starting more bad days than good, Should I be letting her go before she gets too bad or not, ...etc, etc, etc. I tried to talk with Latte about it twice last night, but each time she got up and walked away  some help she was!

BG's/Dose They are a great deal of stress for me, as you have noticed. I really think when she is so high she is just miserable. Unlike other cat's she does not eat, she is crabby, and lethargic. Of course the bg's could be high because of something else and THAT is why she acts this way instead. The other day when she was all blue, she was so 'normal'. It all changed later that night as BG's increased. And well, yesterday...she was not even my cat! As I said, I stuck with the current dose, in case she breaks rebound this a.m., until tonight. If no improvements then I will go back up to 1.75. I can monitor for the next few days and see what she does in the lower numbers (IF in fact she gets lower). She was borderline low on the last dose before I decreased it. If I had been able to be home all day I would have felt comfortable giving her fluids in the 70-90 bg range. But I couldnt be home to monitor so I had to skip, especially since she has proven lately she wont eat if she goes too low. I did not realize more insulin could help break a rebound, as Libby pointed out. Both what Carolyn and Libby said in my last condo was very helpful in explaining whats going on, and helping me decide the best course of action in the next 24hrs.

Party- party_cat this of course needs its own section! I have decided to 'unground' Latte (Paige - grounded meant she was not allowed to go to the party ;-) ), because she cant help what's going on. She is doing her best...its her body that is not cooperating...or me, not figuring it out well enough. NOT her fault. She deserves to party with all the others, and see her beloved Shadow tonight, whether her BG's are too high...eating or not eating...crabby or sweet.

thank you all for the kind responses and cheering on yesterday. Sorry I didnt come back and visit others. Hopefully a little more rest today will give me a little more energy to be social.

(((Carolyn & Latte)))

Good morning to you both :YMHUG:

I hope you get to feeling better & that Latte's body is blessed with some lower BG #s.. safe lower ;-)

Have a Fabulous, Furbaby day!!

Re: 2/28 Latte AMPS-334

I do hope you both start feeling better. The fact that Latte wanted no part of your "discussion" should tell you something!

Re: 2/28 Latte AMPS-334

+2- 244
+3-221
+4-223
+5-256
(ate kibble around +3.5, so she will rise more from that pretty soon).

I'm going back to bed...assuming she is giving me the signal to increase to 1.75 tonight, with ability to monitor at least tomorrow if not thru Wed.

At least most of the drops have been pretty mellow, which will help her. She was looking more relaxed and comfortable earlier this a.m. (around +3 coincedentally, her lowest #)

She is resting for the party tonight.

Re: 2/28 Latte AMPS-334

I hope you can both rest this afternoon....big night tonight. I will tell Shadow now that Latte will be ungrounded for tonight. (HUGS Carolyn...I think you are seeing that Latte is not doing this on purpose or anything....she doesn't mean to upset you so)
He will be so excited cause it would not be a real party unless she was here....Yay!!!
You are doing everything you can for her Carolyn....and she knows it too.

I hope that you can talk this over with someone in person and maybe feel better about things. You do have so many avenues of thought going on and maybe you will find direction when you yourself are feeling better, k?
I know when I am not feeling well, things don't look very bright to me....
Hope you guys have a nice Sunday nap!!! :YMHUG:
Oh...Shadow is soooooo happy...just told him... bcatrun_gif

Re: 2/28 Latte AMPS-334

Hey Carolyn,
I'd say go ahead and bump.. with all that's going on with Latte, you just have to be flexible. If you see she's starting to go too low again go ahead and reduce again.. keep it loose, keep it flexible and always keep your eye on the big picture.. just like you've been doing all along. :)

Re: 2/28 Latte AMPS-334, PMPS-267

Holy pokers catman! We will consider this the kibble curve. Only I slept through the beginning of the rise, I think. She worked SOOO hard to stay in the yellow today...soooo hard! cat_pet_icon (all the while sleeping on her throne of course ...resting up for da party. )

amps-334
+2-244
+3-221
+4-223
+5-253
+6.5-221
+9-263
+10-290
+11-295 (hanging on soooo hard to those yellows!)
pmps-267 (pred cycle-stalling pred approx 1-1.5hrs, INCREASE back to "our" 1.75)

She has been sleeping all day (but so I have I  ). She has looked very relaxed, mostly sprawled out, head flipped over and maybe a smile on her face (dreamin' of the party with shadow I think ;-) ). I caught her cleaning a number of times, and trying to hold a conversation with the pigeons outside. Tummy is very gurgly, so things are not completely settled.

She hopes Pat and Shadow will be showing the closing ceremonies at their party. Of course all the Canadians are out on the street dancin' away...I hope they realize they have a big party down in Florida to contend with!

Re: 2/28 Latte AMPS-334, PMPS-267

ok Latte, let's surprise mom with some blue! It's fun to do things like that on a full moon night.

Holy Crap Libby! Can you come around more often and do that?

+1-313(or something like that, gave pred)
+2.25- 198

Kind of a big drop there. Certainly to go up from there, since its a pred cycle ...and then the lovely bounce awaiting. But seriously, it was like magic. I read your reply, she got all wierd and started drinking TOO MUCH water, so I tested again (poor thing).

Could you maybe request she eat? Thats a bit of a problem tonight. Thanks! Appreciate it! ;-)

I'll give it a try, but my eating vines are kind of rusty because I never have to use them in my house (if anything, I need "less eating" vines here).

psssssst, Latte..... if you eat a good meal, then you can keep mom up allllll night telling her how great you feel! Fun, eh?

Re: 2/28 Latte AMPS-334, PMPS-267 (LIBBY...+2-198, ha!ha!ha!)

  Leave it to Latte! I was just admiring the full moon, and remembering you were bumping up tonight and sort of chuckled....thought I;d pop in and see if Latte pulled a low one out of thin air for you! In that one small thing....she's a bit predictable.

Whatever the reasoning ~ what a lovely number!

Now Latte....eat your dinner like a good girl or I'll tell your Momma she should ground you from an out of town party on a school night! cat_pet_icon

glad you sound like you're both feeling a bit better.
