Have increased to 1.00u KiKi seems fine otherwise -- negative ketones (thankfully).
He was really hungry this morning -- woke me up 2 hrs before AMPS, but I didnt want to feed anything in the 2 hr window.
Poor little guy scarfed down his food when it was feeding time. Bathed himself and is now curled up in a ball sleeping again.
There just doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to his BG readings -- atleast not that I can see -- am I just expecting too much too soon? It just seems like we're all over the place right now -- anyone have any feedback? advice? similar experience when starting Lantus?

I know 9 days isnt that long -- I wouldn't be near as worried if we atleast spent some quality time in the YELLOW (or better BLUE) but we get there and then ricochet back out of it. It's just confusing.

Re: 2/28 KiKi AMPS 325

Hi Donna!! I see on your SS you just changed the dose. That is good but you must wait 6 cycles=3 full days, to see if the new dose is working..
It is great that you are hometesting, and that you got a pretty nice yellow number last night..It takes time for our cats to recover from their initial condition when coming on here...Patience & consistancy are the key here. You will see subtle changes as time goes on.
One thing that helped me was I was told--"LOOK AT THE WHOLE CAT"---behavior, eating, 5 p's.and all those things you see all day.
The numbers are the numbers, but when you see your cat do something it used to do before she got sick, you'll know she's getting better.
Hope you see some lower numbers real soon!!

Re: 2/28 KiKi AMPS 325

Probably the hardest part of starting Lantus is the amount of patience it takes on your part.

A couple of things to consider.. Be consistent with the dose. Fattening for a couple of cycles and then raising the dose a full .25u isn't going to do what you want. Consistency with Lantus is key. Also, when raising a dose, there is the phenomenon of "new dose wonkiness." It can take several cycles for a new dose to settle. In the interim, you may see 'wonky' numbers. Again, patience!

Kiki will get there.

Re: 2/28 KiKi AMPS 325

I dunno, maybe its just me...the markings on the ReliOn syringes seem awfully fat. There seems to be more black (marking) than clear area. Are the syringe magnifiers I see online any good or waste of money? Or what *brand* of syringes should I buy? Maybe I'm not being consistent, as I think I am, with the dosing. Just a thought.
IMHO, someone should have come out with a syringe (by now) that's capable of measuring tiny doses of insulin (ie. .1, .2, .3) rather than having to guesstimate.
But I can be very *black and white* -- *gray* areas make me anxious/nervous/uncomfortable.

I see BLOO on KiKi's spreadsheet today, looks like she's liking the new dose.

And such a prettttttty blue too!
I'd be satisfied if it would just stay below 300 now

Re: 2/28 KiKi AMPS 325,+4 287,+8 147, PMPS 122

did you shoot?

Since this is the lowest you have shot, please get a +1 and +2. I agree, it's very pretty!

Re: 2/28 KiKi AMPS 325,+4 287,+8 147, PMPS 122

with the +1 and +2, we're mostly looking to see if KiKi is dropping or rising, and by how much. That will let us know how to proceed with the rest of the cycle. It will also be good data to have because one of these days he'll throw you a low AMPS when you're running out the door, and knowing how KiKi responds to his shots on low numbers will give you the confidence to make a decision then.
