The chamomile fiasco was certainly a good reminder for everyone that if you're giving a supplement that the vet didn't recommend you need to take responsibility for knowing all about it and it's possible effects in relation to surgery, any other supplements or meds etc. So glad I caught that one!

@Bobbie And Bubba ;
@Sparkle - Vyktor takes chamomile as part of his stomatitis treatment. I brew the tea with the you beaut german flowers and then use the tea to make up his slippery elm bark gel (also for his stomatitis) the chamomile is an anti-inflammatory and is also supposed to have some effect as a pain killer. Giving it in the SEB helps it to hang around in his mouth longer - I can't see Vyktor letting me hold tea bags on his gums either! Also his most problematic area is the fauces which is right in the back. Who knew chamomile was also a blood thinner!

He is really doing his best to convince me he doesn't need the vet - keep it up boy if you get your numbers under control the risks won't outweigh the benefits and you may be excused...

That is a good reminder for us all and yes, so glad you caught it. Thanks for explaining why you use it, always nice to learn something new.

Looking good guys. I knew my Mom shouldn't be putting tea bags in my mouth. That vet is so dumb.

Mom says I'm not behaving today, which of course is wrong. How can you misbehave when you stay in bed all day?

Mom says I'm swinging with the monkeys. I told her that's what happens when she makes me stop playing with the sharks and other fishies. I'll probably be down to the lagoon later at least in the blue waters.

@Sparkle do you think you can convince mom to publish your spreadsheet? I know there was a bit of a who har about making adjustments to it but I'd really like to take a peek. That 54 this morning when you were on your way up at a great rate of knots sure makes me think you might need a reduction...

Looks like Vyktor took your words to heart! Easy there, buddy! There are sharks in the deep end!

Purrdy, awesome to see you back in green. If you're going to the lagoon again today, see if you can keep your nephew out of the deep end! :D

I LOVE that shark graphic thingee. Laughing as I watch it. Too bad Sparkle is not feeling better. I think he'd like it too.

Vyktor (love that name and if I was still fostering babies I'd find one to be your namesake). Since I am still apparently getting flak for wanting to make changes, I think it best that I just stay unpublished. I also wanted to make sure the 12 hour format actually worked (I love it) and I always seem to be thinking of something to make the whole thing cleaner. Please don't take this wrong, but I'm really OK making dose change decisions with my vet. We did try a tiny dose reduction and it did not go well.
I do want to talk stomatitis with you. There is a new thought on it and I'd want to post it soon. The diabetes is secondary for Sparkle as it is responding well to the insulin and diet change. Sparkle's mouth is what makes him Mr. Cranky Pants. Nothing I've tried has helped very much so I've given in to the small doses of Buprenex every 8-12 hours. It relaxes him and lets him sleep comfortable and he will also eat when he needs to. I think the constant drooling makes him nauseated so I use Reglan (metroclopramide) liquid. It works very fast. It may have sugar in it, but it does not seem to effect his BGs.

Thank you for caring. Love watching you and Purrdy's antics.

Nice work, Vyktor! You showed your mamabean alright! Now, keep those good numbers going. You too, Purrdy!

Yo Vyktor, Surf safe tonight, buddy. I've got my eye on you. Stay out of the deep end so we don't have to throw out the waterwings.

Way to go Vyktor :D. Glad you caught the chamomile problem in time Serryn, who would have thought that.

Purdy is looking pretty good too. Scritches to both your boys.

They boys are looking great, keep up the good work. It's all your hard work and dedication paying off. Hope you can avoid the vetty visit.

I have used Reglan as well with good results (injectable) ...

Well, I goofed up on the Reglan. Gave a full 1 cc when he would not eat, right around shot time. he was at +1/95, then +2/243 and then just kept going up. Next pre shot was 433!. It makes me so mad that I did that, I usually only give .5cc when he is starting to consider eating (and he does get around to eating). He didn't eat and I gave the big dose, I guess I was thinking he needed it.
I looked over all my notes and I've never seen a jump like that with the Reglan, so would like to know more about the injectable. I'm assuming you had to order it somewhere or did you get it from your vet?
What makes me so mad about the Reglan mess is that Sparkle would have had 4 full cycles in a row with only blue and green (up to right now) if that hadn't had happened.
Well, it's +6 on this cycle and it's all blue so far, maybe he'll consider going green while I'm out restocking the catfood cabinet.
Have a safe day beans and paws.
