Hungry kitty this morning. I hope she eats well. Good morning all. Tasha is her old playful self and has been for some time. She is happy today that it is sunny and not snowing so she can sit in the window and soak in some rays.

Re: 2/27 Tasha's AMPS 139 +3=52

Just checked her BG and it is 52 at +3. She refused to eat the 3% carb food I had out for her, so I put a 9% carb down and she ate a little. Is 9% really within the guidelines of a low carb diet when the calories are well above 100 per can? Bottom line even though it is 9% carbs per 100 calories, there are more actual carbs in higher calories meals for the insulin to cover. I do realize that it has a higher percentage of protein and fats which slow the metabolization of the carb.

another good day for Tasha!

Regarding the carbs, the general guideline on FDMB is to feed wet foods under about 10% carbs. However, every cat is different (ECID) and for some cats a 9% food is pretty high carb. For some, that is just fine. Most of us in LL feed a little lower carb than that on a regular basis, but will use the 9-12% foods when we want to bring the cat's numbers up a little bit or if we are trying to soften a big drop.
