Talbot finished up his antibiotic for his UTI. They did a culture a week later and he still had the UTI. The culture showed that Clavamox, Ampicillin or tetracycline would be appropriate. We are trying Clav although he got very lethargic and quit eating the last time he was on Clav. He was fine until day three of treatment and now he's not eating much and he threw up today (which is day four). He only has to take it for seven days so I might try to push through but I'll see how he is today and tomorrow, so far today he's a little wobbly. I'm not totally sure it's the AB since Xena has also been eating less in the last couple of days and she nicely threw up five times on the bedroom carpet a couple of nights ago. It's the same food they have been eating, even the same lot number.

Depending how he is tomorrow, he can always change AB's. Otherwise he's been pretty happy. He and Xena have a new box that they love getting under. They can sit in there for hours.

I'm thinking of bringing him to the opthamologist to see why he is blind in one eye. I keep checking his good eye to make sure it's okay. They did test his blood pressure but were only able to get one reading, which was very normal. I'll probably ask for the referral and call to see what the charges usually run.

Thinking of everyone with sick kitties right now.

It's shot time, he's decided not to eat and he's at +12~49. Think I'll quit the Clav and call vet for something different on Monday. I'm going to wait on the shot right now but if he stays fairly low and is not eating I may skip it tonight. He'll be high in the morning but he's famous for his low drops, even with food. Two days ago he hit 28.

(((Talbot))) Feel better soon. Melinda, I hope you get some answers on the eye, and that they can suggest an a/b for him that won't make him so ill.

Spike can't take clav when he has a uti, makes him sick then the numbers drop. I'd try something else for Talbot. Nice to see you post...we are one of the old timers.

Hairball season starting maybe? With the days a little longer I see mine lounging in the rays a little more, and that usually calls for a nice bath. I hope the AB change helps.

28? Yikes, Talbot!
