yesterday

i've called the vet about trying a different painkiller. we'll see if she's open to giving me something for punkin without another appt. the non-purring day yesterday was out of character, although i have noticed before that he seems aggressive and somewhat cranky when his numbers are really high. gave him the last of the bupe last night but i didn't really notice any difference. thought it might drop his numbers but it didn't.

gave him another .25R with the 384 this am. sure hasn't moved him much, but at least he's not higher.

my eldest daughter came home last night until tomorrow morning, so i'm enjoying time with her.

Hope punkin becomes more comfortable tonite!--Maybe he doesnt like these trips anymore, they stress him out, or he's just out of sorts..or just being a cat..Hope you find the answer & wishing punkin good health & bringimg back his purrs!!

Oh poor Punkin! I hope his numbers come down for you. No purring is definitely unusual for him. Have a wonderful time with your daughter Julie!

I don't like hearing that Punkin isn't purring! I hope you can sort that out and he starts feeling better, Julie. Enjoy the time with your daughter!

Oh, poor little Punkin, hope he starts to purr soon!
Enjoy the day with your daughter!

Re: punkin amps 384 +5.5/263

I know what you mean about the lack of purring. Hopefully Punkin is feeling better by now. I am guessing they do not feel good when their numbers are super high. It impacts the brain to have large amounts of glucose in the bloodstream. When my BG is high, i feel more lethargic and just generally icky. Cats must be effected by this as well. Fortunately, this too shall pass.

Sending out loving thoughts to Mr. P.

everyone was so kind to not point out that i'd missed putting the date in punkin's subject line! ohmygod_smile

full day! i did get to speak with the vet - she's pretty nice. i like her. i told her the bupe seemed to work, but it was $50 for less than a week's supply and i simply can't add that on top of the regular diabetic supplies and the acupuncture - yikes. it's too much. BUT, she said she recently discovered she could order it from the local compounding pharmacy and it will be $50 for a 50 day supply - a whole lot more reasonable.

so we're going with that for another run. if he still seems out of sorts, we'll try tramadol or gabapentin.

she agreed with you, rosalie, and said he might not be purring because he feels crummy from the high numbers. i'm just about ready to ditch the R - i'm trying to figure out how to use it without bouncing, but it seems to send him soaring and then we get into a loop of R bouncing.

on the good news, he did purr a lot tonight like his usual self. dancing_cat that was good to see.

ni ni lantus land!
