I could hardly click on the rainbow icon. My heart is broken. Pepper went to the rainbow bridge this afternoon. Nothing was helping him to eat and he was feeling worse and worse. I called the animal hospital and they told me to bring him to the emergency room. They would have had to hospitalize him again and insert a feeding tube since he wasn't eating while they ran more tests to see if they could find a way to make him feel better. There were no guarantees that they could help him and the ER doc wasn't even sure if he could handle the anesthesia to put in the tube. I couldn't put him through all that and I made the decision to let him go. The ER doc was very caring and I'm so grateful that he was on duty today.

Pepper was the sweetest cat in the world. I used to sing "You Are My Sunshine" to him while I petted him and kissed his ears. It always made him purr. It expressed perfectly how I felt about my sweet, sweet Pepper:

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine,

When skies are gray,
You'll never know dear,
How much I love you,
Please don't take my sunshine away.

My sunshine is gone.

I am so very sorry....our time with them is never ever long enough. I know it doesn't feel that way right now, but your sunshine will always be with you, in your heart. Sending our prayers and deepest condolences...

I am very sorry for your loss Nancy!!! The sun is ALWAYS shining where your sweet pepper is now, free of all sickness and all pain!! Pepper will always be by your side and in your heart so don't ever stop singing about your Sunshine!!

I have no words that come close to adequate. I hope Pepper sends you a sunbeam so you will know he is at the Bridge where all of the kitties we love so dearly are keeping him safe until you are reunited.

Nancy, I am so very very sorry. None of this is ever easy, I so udnertsand your broken heart. Pepper knows you did all you could for him,and I know too he will be eternally grateful that you set him free. He will alwyas be with you, tucked away in a corner of your heart. Pepper, you be sure and let your bean know that all is well at the Bridge, she misses you so very much. Fly free little one, Land softly at the Bridge.

(((Nancy))) My heart is breaking for you. We can say all the things that are true: that you did the best for him out of your love for him and that he will always be with you. But it won't ease the pain and hole in your heart. I am sorry your sunshine is gone; you were such an awesome Mom to Pepper.

Oh Nancy I am so sorry for your loss of your Pepper. I pray that he sends you some sunshine to help with the grieving. You did what was best for Pepper.

I am very sorry for your loss of Pepper, your sweet sunshine. He is now free of that tired body that was causing him so much pain and suffering. I saw a bumper sticker the other day, and in time, it might make you feel better. I cried when I saw it because I had just lost someone dear to me, another little furry friend.

You and Pepper were both so fortunate to cross paths and to have each other for so long.

I am so sorry. My heart is just sick for you. Words sound so hollow at a time like this, but you really are a wonderful mama and you made the toughest but kindest and most selfless decision. Pepper was a very lucky kitty to have you.

I am so very, very sorry to hear about this sad news. You were a very good Momma to sweet, dear Pepper. You gave him a very wonderful life with lots of love, lots of petting, and a ton of warmth. I'm SO SO sorry it was sweet Pepper's time to cross...Miss Pepper sends headbutts too and shares your song - that's what I sing to HER! BLACK BABIES RULE! Remember, he's not gone, you just have to hug him differently.

((((((((Nancy)))))) I am so sorry ! You were such a great bean to Pepper. All our GAs ar greeting him and showing him how to send his sunbeams down to bring back the good memories.

My heart is breaking for you, I have tears hitting the keyboard as I type. I echo everything that has been said, you were such a wonderful mama bean to your sweet Pepper, what a hard but necessary decision to make, I am so grateful that the ER doc was kind and gracious. Pepper will always be with you, now he will be singing You are my Sunshine, softly, whispering in your ear, Thanks Mama for loving me and caring for me and now I feel better and am running around with all the GAs.
I will light a candle tonight for Pepper.

I want to thank everyone for their kind words. It helped immensely last night and today to have your support. This board is full of awesome people. I don't know how anyone could treat feline diabetes without the help of all the experienced, knowledgeable, and most of all, caring people here. I especially want to thank Wendy and Neko, and Julie and Punkin, who gave me so much help with Pepper's acro issues. Thank-you everyone.

I know how hard the last several days have been. You never gave up on your sweet Pepper. He went to the bridge surrounded by your love and compassion and will be forever loved and missed.
 
I'm so very sorry you had to let Pepper go. From everything I've read about you and your sweet baby since coming back, he was loved unconditionally and taken the very best care of. Pepper, make sure you give your momma a sign that you made it ok. Fly free sweetheart....

you were so lucky to have him, and he to have you. you went the extra mile for the little guy and i am confident he was blessed to have you as his bean. No one could've taken care of him any better than you did.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful, sweet boy. You did for Pepper the thing he couldn't do for himself... allow him to leave his world of pain. I think it is one of the bravest things we can do... to let a cherished pet go as our hearts break. We'll be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
 
Oh Nancy, I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure you were every bit his sunshine as he was yours. Let the sun shine on your face over the next few days and know he is looking down on you with all the love you shared together. Wishing there was something I could send to you that would ease your sorrow.
 
So sorry that Pepper's time had come to leave you. We never have them long enough, but it's not right for us to force them to stay with us to keep US company. Fly Free Sweet Pepper and Land Softely. There are many who have G.A. already and will be meeting up with each other, talking about the '"good old days" while their spirit shares stories of love as well as loss.

One of my favorite fables is called "The Loving Ones". That's it's official name anyway. I always called it You have chosen Tears". It'll make you cry, but it's a good kind of cry. I hope you enjoy it

Send your mamabean a sign that you're doing fine when you can Pepper!
