Good work, Suzanne! That’s so great!!Not with as many cats as I already have to take care of. But most of them have found forever homes.

We do need to have some sort of badge for cg's who are enduring the really hard times.I think you get a FDMB badge for doing this.
I have a multi strain probiotic with the main ingredient of S boulardii (no MOS) tho. I mix it with Bell’s wet food but I also add fortiflora to cover the taste. Bell seems to really like the taste of the fortiflora even if it isn’t a good probiotic.
super super glad Ivy has her appetite back!
It may just not be her cup of tea.
You know, I would do anything for my girl.
My badge would say crazy cat lady.
I actually tried the fortiflora last week when she wasn’t eating and she turned her face away from it, but I think she was just feeling like complete crap and didn’t want to eat anything.
I should probably try it again once she isn’t completely sick just to see how she reacts to it![]()
lol. You’re smart. It’s top notch ingredients and no guar gum or tapioca or unnamed body parts. It may just not be her cup of tea.
I do think if I had to taste any cat food it would be Ivy’s homemade food. Maybe you could add a bit of salt to it and see if DH would notice anything unusual for dinner![]()
Thank you, Mary. That’s so sweet of you. It means a lot to have the support from our friends here. It makes us feel supported and not so alone while going through difficult situations and rough patches. We do need to have some sort of badge for cg's who are enduring the really hard times.
And @Staci & Ivy, I am watching and reading and sending good wishes--just not posting as I don't want to clog things up too much over here (I know they like us to limit posts). Glad she's doing better!!
Such a great update for tonight StaciQuick update, Ivy is acting back to her self a bit. A little more interactive, definitely not hiding in the corner anymore.
She ate her dinner very well, of course she had the mirtazapine on board.
I gave a smidge less This time so we’ll see how she does in the next 24 hours.
She did have a BM this afternoon and it was definitely more formed (1/2 of it was a little mushy but getting better).
She’s been on Cerenia for five days and I am reading that it seems like that’s about what they recommend is five day limit.
So I need to figure out how and when to either give that a rest, take a break, or keep dosing one or two more days at most.
If anyone has an opinion on that, I’m all ears. Thanks and hope everyone is having a safe and quiet day.![]()

Hi Madeline, thanks so much for letting me know. I heard back from the vet last night who said as long as Ivy is eating well for two or three days which, today will be day 3, plus Tuesday night when she ate the AD food.Hi Staci. I am so happy to hear that Ivy is doing better.
When Butch was diagnosed with pancreatitis. I gave him the Mirataz for 14 days full dose. When he has bouses, I give it again for couple of days. If Butch becomes too aggressive with begging for food, I have given Butch less of the Mirataz (1/2 dose) at times. Butch and I are sending prayers and well wishes, hugs too!![]()
Hi Madeline, thanks so much for letting me know. I heard back from the vet last night who said as long as Ivy is eating well for two or three days which, today will be day 3, plus Tuesday night when she ate the AD food.
He said I could stop the mirtazapine completely tomorrow, Saturday.
Then he suggested we’ll talk early next week and if she seems OK, we could then stop the Cerenia, which she will have been on for about eight or nine days at that point and he said that staying on the Cerenia for more than five days is fine, because I questioned him about that.
Just curious, did the vet suggest keeping Butch on the mirtazapine for that full two weeks for any particular reason or was he still not eating great?
I’m just concerned since my vet said I could stop it tomorrow if she’s been eating well, which she now is.
Thanks for your help@Madeline528

Thanks, Madeline. That does help. It’s good to see how others have managed all of this.Hi Staci. The vet from the hospital when Butch was discharge said to continue as needed. I read on the medication that it stated 14 days. I was so concerned when he came home from the hospital that he would stop eating, I kept him on it for the full 14 days. Now when I feel he’s having a flare I give it for 2 to 3 days and some time I do 1/2 dose.
As for the Cerenia, I was also told as needed too. I just continued giving it daily but I have missed a day here and there. I am actually thinking of stopping it to see but once again I am nervous because I can’t syringe feed and don’t want to wind up back in the hospital.
I am so happy to hear that Ivy is eating. This is great!
I hope this helps
