Daphne's AMPS a bit high for her, still don't know what happened with new/old, insulin. At least she is down from that to 71. I'm using her old insulin till I get the new one. I'm not using that pen that I used that had her numbers all crazy, two cycles ago till now. I hope she goes back to her normal great numbers soon.

Well, I always say, I don't want to give advice because I'm too new. But for this subject I must at least share. My uncle gave me a pen of 2013 exp., of insulin, so wow, great he didn't need it, and it had a good expiration date, so I said lots of thank you's and put in my fridge.

So my advice is NEVER, EVER, TAKE INSULIN FROM AN 88 YEAR OLD UNCLE THAT SAID IT WAS GOOD. Yup kept in fridge, not opened. It turned out to be bad, and so again, ADVICE, think about how an 88 year old may think and do,... probably went to Walmart, left the pen in the 100 degree temps, for an hour or so… or, went to Walmart and left the pen in the car with the temps being 2 degrees outside, either scenario, not a good thing! I really don't know what happened, but next time, I will get the insulin from the Vet script, to the pharmacy, and pick it up myself, from the pharmacy. Hope someone can benefit from my experience and actually nothing horrible happened, except Daphne's numbers went crazy for two days, but she's back to normal (anit-jinx) today.

Glad to see her back.

I also had two vials donated to me by my vet from a client whose diabetic dog had passed away. I was a little concerned at first even though they were unopened with far out expiration dates and I was assured they had been properly handled/refrigerated, etc. There was no problem with the first vial. However, I just prefer pens...that's me. So I gave the second, unopened vial to Rosalie. Don't know if she had any problems with it or not.

Welcome back green Daphne!!!

Good thing you caught it before you disposed of your old insulin. I always keep the last vial/pen as a back-up, just in case. Anyway, Daphne has wonderful numbers again. I'm sure you will enjoy the evening!!

As always, lookin' lovely, Daphne! I'm glad you figured out the insulin issue!!

BTW, Barb, where do you get your insulin? When Trix was diagnosed, I called around: I found that Target has the best price in this area. And, they're willing to sell pens individually.

Oops, no I didn't get the +2.5, but I'm testing her now and I'll post. I feed her though, and made sure she ate it, with me holding the dish, (she seems to walk away after a bite or two of food, and that may be the reason for the 52). If I know I'm right here next to her, I'm not as nervous. DH knows to wake me, always, if it's under 60 so, I will get the +2 in the AM, but so far the AM is still pretty high.

Amy, I didn't shop around for the insulin, but maybe I will now, if I can get that at Target, I didn't even think about it, before I paid $100 and something at Stop & Shop. I'm kinda paranoid now to use the pen though, since I believe it may have been bad from my uncle, I was wondering if I did something when I used the syringe. I watched the video from Julie (and Punkin, yes, I did hear a little music in the background), even watched it twice to make sure. I guess that will always be a mystery.
