Hello all. Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts, I am happy to have Chyna home. I didn't have much sleep last night, I think I was still worried. Although Chyna is as high as a kite on painkillers, and seems quite happy other than a lot less hungry and thirsty. Rolls over and wants her petting and ear scratches and is very lovey, haha. She seems to be walking a little steadier this morning than last night. BG is still low I'm assuming from anesthetic and lack of food over the last few days, and I'm going to work, so no shot again. She ate a few bites of breakfast, I may add some parm cheese to make it look better but first I have to give the antibiotic.

I want to give her the bupe, although it's only been 8 hours since the last one?...either that or wait until lunch when it will have been 14 hours and I don't want her in pain. They did mention I could do every 8 hours if she was really crabby so I hope that's ok so I can get it on schedule with my work, anyone know? It's 0.2ml in each syringe, I could give half... A lot of stuff to give! Gotta go:)

Re: 2/27 Chyna AMBG 67 Bupe question?

I'm not sure on the bupe. Hopefully someone will come along who knows. It's great to see Chyna on the road to recovery! :-D

Re: 2/27 Chyna AMBG 67 Bupe question?

Bupe is different in the way it works. The more you give, the longer it lasts (vs. the more the pain-killing property). If Chyna is really stoned, I think you would be fine cutting back on the dose. If you'll be checking on her at lunch time, it may give you a better sense on how she'd doing on the reduced dose.

The other thing to keep in mind is that if her kidney function is off, she may not be excreting drugs as fast as she would normally.

Here's Chyna's condo from Tues.

Hi guys .. no bupe advice from me, but it's nice to see chyna home .. hopefully these nice numbers will last once everything is back to normal for her .. have a great day guys!

Re: 2/27 Chyna AMBG 67

Just checking on you guys...I'm glad to hear Chyna is now on the road to recovery. It does take us beans longer to recover from these things than it takes our kitties - I can so relate to your sleepless night last night!

Keep healing, Chyna!!

Re: 2/27 Chyna AMBG 67

glad chyna is home and is recovering ok, ruben was on bupe (i was giving injections) he seemed to do better when i cut him back i was giving every 12 hr instead of every 8. but ecid i just noticed he was too high and i think that was causeing him anxiety. he was all over me and wouldn't leave my side, but in a nervous way. when i stretched it out he was more relaxed. but again thats not advise, thats just ruben.
i know you know chyna better than any of us. your a good bean. sending speedy recovery vines.

Re: 2/27 Chyna AMBG 67

Thanks for the healing vines and happy she's home wishes:) It's all very much giving me a headache, I can't imagine how my poor girl is feeling. Now I have even more to read with the (borderline or full, I'm not sure?) CKD.

Hopefully she is eating while I am at work, I left out a few dishes with little amounts in each and will see in a few hours at lunch time:) I'm going to stick with the every 12 hour for the bupe unless she gets really grouchy, I just wanted to get it on shift with me being home this morning without her going too long without it. Although she really doesn't show pain much. If she seems too antsy or crazy I guess I will have to look at reducing the dose amount...last night she was wandering around all wobbly like a drunk from whatever they gave her at the vet but hyper and jumping up everywhere so I had to put stuff on her cat tree in the way to keep her off of that high up while she was all wobbly! I wonder when her anesthesia will wear off and glucose rises. I'm worried about no insulin but don't know what else to do

Good evening! I'm not sure how much of the PMBG is a food related one, since I put food out at +7.5 and it was gone when I got home at +10.5. I decided against a shot again tonight though since she is barely up? Her ears are still bleeding really freely when I poke too. She ate most of the food (eventually) that was left out today, including a late (after I went to work) breffis so that is good! Still not as much as usual, but something. I added the lab to my picasa web album that is for yesterday, after she'd been on IV for the previous afternoon and overnight:) It shows the levels from the 25th for comparison on the right too. She stayed pretty low at the vet office for glucose...and all they gave her was a "mini dose" of her normal insulin the afternoon of the 25th...of course she barely ate there, just some in the evening finally. So happy to have my sweet kitty home! cat_pet_icon
