Yesterday's Condo

Good morning, Lantus Landers!

It looks like Basil picked blue for today. He seems to do that a lot. He must like that color. I keep telling him green is nicer--like the last two days--and I have to say, his reply was shockingly rude! And this while I am helping him alter his new suit for tomorrow's full moon party! Yes, it has to fit just perfectly or he's not happy. Luckily, he's a very sweet and cute boy most of the time. He just gets a little silly about his clothes.

I went back to bed today after the AMBG and after I got up and showered I did another test. So +1:40 is an odd time but I wanted to see when it is he starts to go down. Thinking of doing +2:30.

I have a vet appointment for March 9 to have his teeth looked at. We'll see then if he needs a dental.

I think blue is pretty, although green is a much better color for Basil :mrgreen:

I'm not sure what blue means during an OTJ Trial, I hope it's good!

Mama bean got you a new spiffy suit for the party tomorrow so we need to show some
thanks and give her back some green.
Especially when there are a few more parties coming up and one of them is supposed to be yours in 4 more days.

So, he is back down in the green at 88.
AMBG=119
+1:40=126
+2:40=88

But that confuses me a bit, because we have
AMBG=119
1/2 can FF
+2:40=88

But, during the night, we had
+9=1/3 can FF
+3 from that (ie, AMBG)=119

Maybe we do need to test him at PM+9 and see where he is for a couple of nights?

I guess I need to ask, too, since this is day 10, if he keeps up the blues, are we back on Lantus for a bit?

ETA: I use a Wavesense Presto Monitor and I don't see anyone else using that. I wonder... It does seem to be a high quality monitor. And I also know that these numbers are in the normal range. Fret fret fret fret :-D

I think the numbers are OK but I'd like to have Jill or Libby take a look as well. I think that as long Basil is able to pull those numbers back down, all is good. There can be any number of reasons that you get one "off" number -- stress, wonky test or monitor, Basil being a cat -- who knows. I also wouldn't be surprised if you get slightly higher numbers in the early morning. There is a natural release of cortisol in the morning and this may cause numbers to pop up a little. You're also seeing that after feeding, Basil's pancrease kicks in and those numbers come down.

You could try feeding him at PM +8 too if you want to drive yourself crazy for the last couple of days of the trial. Raja failed her first trial but I think her blues were higher than Basil's. It seems to me he had these same numbers on the .1u too, right? The blues he is getting are low blues and then he brings them down into green so I think he is doing well.
Jill and Libby will give you the final word I guess...but we didn't do that until day 13 with Raja...it's not a big deal to have to give more insulin for a little while longer. If it's what the kitty needs, then that's what is best to do, right? I personally don't think that will be the case with Basil, but that is MHO and I am only just putting in my two cents...it's worth even less than that. :lol:
Is Basil ready for the party? Can he come over and help set up the chairs and tables tonight? He is always welcome ya know. They like to practice partying the night before anyway under the pretense of setting up....yeah right...talk to you later!

So, he's just a low blue kind of boy today. He was VERY hungry at dinnertime tonight. Hung around for an hour and a half before feeding time wanting to be fed.

We are bringing home a new Rescue dog tomorrow. She's an older, low-key little dog, who is fine with cats, so I hope Basil doesn't get his nose too out of joint!
 
try feeding smaller meals more frequently, keeps the pancreas awake. ~O)

and don't worry, a little low blue during a countdown is fine. we just watch for trends. you'll find as time goes by numbers will lower on own (like in a month you'll probably be getting deep green all the time).

and yeah it could be your meter runs a little high, never heard of that meter.

either way, you're good, keep counting!

One question: do you mean feed even more frequently than 6 times in 24 hours? I guess that means ordering an outomatic feeder for overnight if the answer is yes.
 
Basil looks good, Lydia. I understand your worry, it's tough when you see other cats getting 50's for OTJ numbers. But Basil doesn't have to be in the 50's, he is in non-diabetic numbers and he is pulling himself down very well with food. Don't worry, we're watching and will tell you if we're worried. I'm sure Jill will stop by too, and Jojo already has.

So keep packing for the Falls!
 
hi lydia. continue doing what you're doing. we'll be watching closely for the next few days. if there's an upwards trend, we'll spot it. :-D
