Re: 2/26 Java AMPS 316

Morning! I love Java's avatar - what a beautiful kitty.

Java is off to a nice start - that pink almost looks yellow. Good luck with the more numbers today - data is always good! Have a good day guys!

well mellow yellow all day. What do you guys think i should do for tomorrow, full curve or mini curve? I am trying to save pokes but I want to get data. At this rate we will never change dose. I am home all day tomorrow, supposed to go to vet friday for first fructosamine since we started insulin. We kind of put it off, I think he was somewhat impressed with the home testing. another convert. anyway any ideas? should I keep testing into the night? I just don't want him to be a pincushion every weekend.

I really wouldn't worry about Java being a pincushion. Take a look at some of our SSs. I test a fair amount. Gabby doesn't protest. As long as there's treats, affection, and/or food involved, she's cooperative. If you can, I'd suggest getting tests that fill in some of the typically empty times on Java's SS.

Depending on what this evening looks like, you may be able t increase tomorrow.

Thanks Sienne, I am still struggling with the guiolt. I know logically that is stupid but I feel like I am hurting him. I know its to make him better but its so tough. I almost wish he was a little feisty and gave me a rough time. He seems so resigned and that hurts. But I will suck it up, I trust all your advice, you all have been through this before and you all have been right so far! I do appreciate everyones comments and it has been nice knowing there are others in the same boat. My grandma calls you all my "ladies".

I think all of us experience the fear that we're hurting our kitties. I think others will tell you how their cats will be at their testing place waiting, go running to get there, purr, lie down (no doubt staring at the treats), etc. I honestly get no negative reaction from Gabby and trust me, if there's something she dislikes, she lets it be known. (Seeing the carrier is an absolute guarantee that she will be under a piece of furniture and crying.) A lot of times at night, I'm testing her when she's sitting on my bed and she still comes to cuddle. The part to always remember is to reward Java for allowing you to test. If there's affection and a reward, it becomes a positive experience for you both. If you're afraid or uncertain, you will communicate that. You are doing this to help Java and to keep your kitty safe and there's nothing more important than that.
