I know these are ok numbers, but not Daphne's usual and I am wondering if the new juice pen was bad. It has a 2013 exp. date. My old insulin was 60 or so days old. Pen was from my uncle who said he didn't use it and it was in the fridge the whole time. (I know him, he would do what he was supposed to with it). I went back to old insulin @ AMPS because I got the high number (for her its high).

Maybe, do kitties bounce with new insulin :?: Or can new insulin be bad sometimes? Or since the old insulin was older, maybe this new stuff is good, and her body isn't used to the new stuff yet and she bounced?
Can't think of any other reasons?

Update: + 9 148! This is not Daphne, what happened to my green kitty
Update: PMPS 87 I have a gut feeling it was a bad pen, so I'm using the old one for now (@AMPS and PMPS)

Kitties don't bounce from new insulin.

A couple things I can think of:

-- her old pen was bad, the shed kind of drained, and you now have to refill it
-- the new pen is bad and yes they can be. It would not be usual but I did have that happen with a lev pen......it was bad from the get go. Again...unusual but could be.

I'd check and make sure he stored it at the exact right temperature and where he stored it. Storing it in the door is not good....with the opening and closing, it is always subject to temp changes. Storing it in
a crisper or cheese drawer is better because the temp is more stable.

Others may have some ideas.....it's tough to be caught between two pens and not knowing which might be the culprit. ;-)

Re: 2/26 Daphne AMPS 146, + 3 81, +8 132!

it *could be* from any number of reasons including the possibility she dropped lower than you know last night. daphne could also be having an off day. i remember one day alex was running a little higher than usual. as soon as she had a bowel movement her numbers dropped right back into range.
just yesterday alex ran a little higher than normal and today her numbers are back to where they should. i'll never know "why".

try not to put too much stock in one cycle. go with the flow. let's see how things go from here...

Marje gave you some good info, but yet another reason, which Trix likes to pull out on a semi-regular basis is..."she's a cat." Trix was beautifull regulated for about 6 months on F1.25U, then, the weekend of that October blizzard, she decided to go all wonky on us...all of a sudden, she was giving us pinks and yellows, and we had to bump her up to 2.75 over the course of a month to regain control!

Hopefully that won't be the case with Daphne, but wnfortunately, there are so many unpredictable factors with FD...so don't panic!! Hopefully she'll settle in with the new juice, and it will be a done deal.

Have a great day!

Thanks Jill and Marjorie, OK, I'll just have to see what happens today, not sure if I should just go back to old insulin…
her old pen was bad, the shed kind of drained, and you now have to refill
, Marje her shed seemed like it was fine, since she still had her usual low numbers before I changed the insulin.

Thanks Amy, maybe I'll just use old insulin today to see what happens :?:

As Jill and Amy said....could be that she's just a cat. Hopefully she'll come right back down.
