Rocket & his Mom

Member Since 2010
hi dear LL Family,
I know i don't post often, I do try with all my might to check condos but with my hectic life it's not always possible to stay in touch....but do know that i keep you all in my thoughts and prayers....

keeping BJM in my prayers

Life with Rocket is pretty challenging...as most of you know (and i realize there are lots of new kitties on the board) his med schedule plus my work schedule leaves me with very little sleep on a daily basis....we have had ups/down with Rocket....lots of hits/misses on his food intake (mainly due to his CRF)....

he is still waking me up in the wee hrs but not always as i have my alarm to ensure i get up to give a snack and subq fluids....if not he definetely reminds me i have slept thru my alarm (mainly on weekends  )

i still come home at lunch from work...i take the bus back home and if Darren comes home at lunch it allows me a good 15 mins home before he drops me off back at work...if not then it only gives me 7 mins to feed both kids (Rocket and Comet) before i turn around and take the bus back to work....i don't consider it a sacrifice nor do i complain for doing it...it gives me reassurance that they're both ok especially Rocket as he sometimes doesn't eat a thing in the span of 6 hrs  and with insulin and other meds in his system he NEEDS food even if it's me giving it to him at lunch.....

on Feb 9 I rushed him to the ER but after all was said and done he was sent home with no treatment....and so i continue to watch him like a hawk....and he is still keeping his weight which is GOOD ;-) and SOOOOOO antijinx!

on Feb 10 we took Comet (the dog) to see the cardiologist....long story short...he is OK for now but will have problems down the road as per the vet....with my already busy schedule with Rocket i have neglected to even look into all the terminology the cardio vet gave me...and i think i'm taking it for granted that he said "will develop it down the road...for a long time yet".....so i guess i'm slacking with him and i certainly hope it doesn't become an issue any time soon....Comet also hasn't lost weight so he seems stable as well (ANTIJINX)

i will for sure try to update his SS....just yesterday i decided to up his dose to 3u as his numbers were creeping up....now at 3u i will have to keep a closer eye on him dropping like a stone...

i treasure every day i have with Rocket and though i'm tired as hell i will eventually have time for sleep...but i hope it's not for a long long time....

that's it that's that for us here....i wish it was more exciting news....

oh...by the way.......just call me the ROADRUNNER....some of you already know i gave myself that nickname....i don't know whether i'm coming or going....

keeping all beans and kitties in my thoughts and prayers....do know that i do...even if i don't post in your condos...i hope you understand....

Hi Claudia,
Great to see a condo for Rocket. We all know how very hectic your life is. All sounds pretty good for both your boys. They are so lucky to have you for their mamabean.
I think of you often and am glad to see that although you are not getting enough sleep, you are hanging in very well. Take care of yourself!!

Lots of hugs to you all,

Ella & Rusty

Thanks for the update. I think of Rocket often. It's good to know he is holding his own. Take care of yourself as best you can, Claudia.

We are always thinking of Rocket and keeping you all close in our hearts. Rocket has the best name ever, and is such a fighter. I so appreciate reading your updates and see what latest hurdle he has overcome! You are such a wonderful bean to the heroic Rocket! :YMHUG:

i stumbled upon this picture (thanks to Darren)....our old computer crashed a long time ago and so ALL my photos of the kids (digital ones) were destroyed...except some Darren has found that he managed to save a while back....

i'm sharing with you a picture i took back on April 22, 2008.....we were in the middle of renos at home...Rocket seemed ok...little did i know that in less than 2 weeks i would rush him to the vet and the CRF dx was given...i was sent home with a bag of subq and was told that if he continued to hide in the closet that it was time to pts him....at that time looking back i thought he was hiding in the closet due to the renos...floors/carpets being pulled up...the noise of it all....but then i clued in that he was drinking lots of water and shaking....i knew something was terribly wrong.....gives me chills up my spine thinking back....

Here is Rocket drinking water out of the tub....some of you already know that it is his water supply....he is not too keen on water bowls....prefers the 'fresh' water...and water fountains were a bust

He is so handsome and we are always so happy to hear a well Rocket report. We hope for many many more good reports. Also hope all will be fine with Comet for some time to come.

Keeping you all in our prayers.
