Left some dry kibble out overnight to try to get Pepper to eat something. Someone ate some, I don't know if it was the civie or Pepper, but Pepper's pretty high today.

Re: 2/25 Pepper AMPS 510

Hi Dyana. I have been able to syringe some food. I haven't done much today because I was hoping he would get hungry during the day, but he hasn't, so I am about to start again.

Hi Nancy

Sending tons more vines to Pepper. Eat up sweetness and please feel better for your mamabean.
Good luck with the pilling. It really does get easier and hopefully they showed you a great method. :YMHUG:

Re: 2/25 Pepper AMPS 510, +5 346

Hi nancy,

I was looking for something at Punkin's ss today and had a  about Pepper. I don't see the meds she's taking anywhere on her ss - maybe i'm missing it. but have you had her thyroid tested recently? The free 3 and free 4 (i think that's what they are called) are the ones to check. it's important to have the break-out, not just the TSH.

The reason i'm asking is because the SRT can kill the thyroid, and because low thyroid is unusual in cats, it can get missed if the vet isn't looking for it. Punkin's thyroid died at some point post-SRT and we didn't catch it. They mentioned it to us at CSU and we had him checked in 3 months and it appeared fine. honestly, with everything he had going on, i simply missed getting it checked again. EVERYTHING is connected to thyroid. It may be having an impact on whatever whatever Pepper's got going on right now.

If you haven't had it checked, it might be worth doing.

sending the best for you guys. i know how awful it is when our little ones aren't doing well. :YMHUG:

Piling on more tons of eating vines for Pepper. :YMHUG: Good luck with the syringe feeding in the mean time. You should give him different food via syringe than you do on his plate. I had to syringe feed a fatty liver disease kitty for a couple of weeks and it took him ages before he'd eat any chicken based food again cause I had been syringe feeding the Royal Canin Recovery, which is chicken.

Lu-Ann's Grayson was diagnosed with hypothyroid 17 weeks after SRT. The senior blood panel checks for hyperthyroid but extra tests are needed for hypothyroid.

Julie and Wendy - The vet did blood tests and told me she would check his thyroid level but I forgot to ask what the results were, and now that you mention it, I'm not sure I said he needed to be checked for hypothyroid rather than hyperthyroid, so I'll ask about that tomorrow, too.
