And the winner is.....drumroll please.....MR LIVER!!

Plan A, to test/feed at +ten didn't happen. His new wakeup for me seems to be + eleven. I tested and found ewwwww, red, so saw no purpose to not feed at that time.

Found that he still had last nite's offering on the plate. grr_red

He was SCREAMING at me, as usual, to get up and turn on faucet! I've had just about enough of that.
I wonder what he'll do when I shut the bathroom door at night. I don't want to, because it's the most convenient place for a night light for me.

I've always wondered if there is a safe way to dry wet food. Yes, I know that sounds stupid, but hear me out please

Checkers is WILD about dry bits....even dried bits of leftover canned food, left on the plate, or on the floor around the plate. He likes the crunch....even tho he has only a few teeth.

I don't have a dehydrator......I wondered if I could stand the smell, while it baked on a cookie sheet...it would be worth the experiment. This would be for TREATS, not a meal.
I would purchase a dehydrator, if it worked.

QUESTION:
When there is a cluster of very tiny bubbles, in several syringes, is it more likely to be bad syringes, or toasty insulin?
Been happening the last few days.

Hi guys .. boooooiiinnngggg! Checks, where are you?? I can't see you!! Come back down!! Hmm .. does checkers like the freeze dried treats? I don't think they have much of a crunch to them, but they might be a little tougher then the wet cat food .. he might like that texture? Have a great day guys!

Hi Barb. So glad that Checkers decided to come down to a more reasonable number. Let's hope that he continues down the path toward the Lagoon.

Interesting concept of drying can food for use as treats. I'm guessing you would use very low <3% carb. All of our cats love the freeze dried chicken breast but only 2 will eat the white fish or shrimp favors. Let us know how it works out if you give it a try.

Have a great day.

That's a really interesting thought Barb. Muffin, as you know, only eats one flavor canned fuds. And quite often I find her chewing the dried bits off the bowl. She doesn't care for freeze dried anything, so I hear where you're coming from. I'd be really interested to hear how it goes if you try it out. If it works, Muffin may just get new treats too!

Re: 2/25 Checkers amps 450 +2/404+4/281

The only thing that comes to mind when drying out wet food is to leave some in a bowl, or a plate, somewhere where Checkers, and anyone else, can't get to it.

He's looking pretty good there! Come on down a bit further, Checkers.. You can do it!

Hi Barb, let me know if your experiment works, as Mags loves crunchy food. I can't open a bag of potato chips when she's around, as she goes crazy and wants some chips. Looks like the start of a nice slow slide. Have a great day.

Hehehe, of all the strange things our cats love, I've never heard of one that loves potato chips, Ann.

Muffin is a plate scraper too? Checkers does that also....he will reject the fresh warm food, but scrape the plate, of the nasty dried out gunk.
The thought of taking a can of expensive food and drying it into garbage, doesn't appeal to me.
I ordered freezedried beef liver, and FD turkey.

I was out all day, so assume he surfed yellow.

Re: 2/25 Checkers pmps 393 Q/bubbles/first post

I hope Checkers likes the freeze dried food you ordered. I don't know about the bubbles.

Re: 2/25 Checkers pmps 393 Q/bubbles/first post

I don't know the answer about the bubbles...but I can sure relate to kitties loving crunchies! As you know, I've got three hard core kibble addicts, and it is Trix's goal to get her face in those bowls at every opportunity...and she is FAST! It's really kind of comical...but I also feel bad for her, because I know she loves the stuff...

Growing up, I had cats who loved Doritos and Goldfish crackers...I guess it was the salt factor.

Ok, Checks, let's come down from there, OK??

Have a great night, Barb!

Re: 2/25 Checkers pmps 393 Q/bubbles/first post

I have wondered the same thing about dehydrating the wet food into a crunchy treat... Zeus doesn't care for the freeze dried treats, but he so wants some of the crunchy treats that Smokey gets.

I don't know about the bubbles, but I opened a syringe tonight and when I pushed the plunger in a couple of drops of liquid came out! Strange! I didn't use it.

Re: 2/25 Checkers pmps 393 Q/bubbles/first post

Checkers, enough of those girlie pink colors, it's time for some full moon blue.

In answer to your question about bubbles, I use BD syringes and they practically always have bubbles. They are known for that, but BD have pretty much a monopoly in Canada. You can get some small pharmacies to special order other brands, but I haven't bothered yet. I just draw the dose, remove the syringe from the cartridge/pen, draw down a little more so there is air at the top, tap the syringe so the bubbles join the air at the top, then push it all out. So my answer is bad syringes, but I use my bad ones too or I'd be throwing out 90% of them.

A friend of mine was looking into dehydrating raw pet food using a dehydrator. Probably similar results for canned. My kritters get a lot of different type of FD treats as well as one inch pieces of raw chicken neck and that seems to satisfy their need for crunch.

Re: 2/25 Checkers pmps 393 +2.5/290

Yippee, we're yellow

I overdraw insulin too, and get the bubbles to the top, but they cling together in a triangle shape, with the point down. I can't get them out.
I really wondered if the insulin was bad....I mean, how many syringes in one box, can do the same thing.
I couldn't get a macro photo, clearly.
I'm heading to bed. Checks is killing me, with this hour early thing, lately, and I still have to wait up to test.
