Nut’s rear legs are getting stronger each day, not 100% kitten strength but better. He wants to walk outside and eat grass but there’s still a couple feet of snow out there! Settles for the small patch of free space on the deck.
Since his pads are dry and he lives on wood floors I made him some anti-slip boots from Pawflex mitts + a thin layer of 100% silicone on the soles. Just need to add the Nike swoosh and he’ll be good to go.
What a great idea making kitty shoes! How does Butternut like them? You should post a picture. Sure sounds like you're a talented seamstress!
Surf that lagoon safely Butternut!
I hope you have a wonderful day!
Pics of the pawflex medi-mitt I bought and added silicone to are at the link in my first post. No sew! Crafty and creative, I am. A seamstress, not so much.
He doesn’t mind wearing his booties when needed. They stretch and if he tries to shake them off... they don’t come off. I’m treating his dry pads so when they improve and his legs get even more strong, plus walking outside more than in, he won’t need booties. I’m going to try adding silicone to a pair of newborn baby socks too.
Hoping the lagoon doesn’t induce a big pink bounce later.
100% silicone at Walmart or Lowes.. places like that. I chose the Loctite brand after searching for bird-safe silicone when I made my oriole feeders last year. A search for “food-safe” silicone might turn up choices also. DAP brand might have something. “Aquarium safe” search might yield something too.
Butternut doesn’t lick his rides and the silicone doesn’t really pick off easily either but better safe than toxic.
I’m glad about the potassium too. Glad the vet doesn’t go strictly by lab values because Nutty isn’t low on K per his bloodwork.
