Happy Sunday.gif

Ravan has been looking pretty good lately! What is his AMPS? Neither your title nor your spreadsheet have that filled. Regardless, I hope he has a beautiful day and he surfs safely! Enjoy your Sunday!

@Chris & China (GA)

Does anyone here have experience with seizures?

I'm very upset. Ravan had a third seizure. It was 3 months between the first & second one. This one is only 4 weeks since the last one. They're getting closer together! Almost exactly the same as the other 2 . Sitting on the couch watching TV 9:30 pm
Ravan was washing & suddenly his head started going side to side fast mouth open lots of saliva I held on to him tightly. It lasted about a minute. Then ,as before, he acted very frightened looking around for nearly 30 mins. This is so frustrating. I thought the CBD oil would help with seizures but maybe I'm not giving him enough? I only give him 6 drops 4 or 5 times a week. I do Not want to put him on anti seizure meds. I read they are hard on his liver. I think I'll ask the Vet to talk to Cornell University & see if they have any suggestions.

I wouldn't fear putting him on seizure meds.....unfortunately, there's really no concrete research that CBD oil helps (and it's such a big thing right now, it's hard to know if you're getting what you paid for anyway)

I don't know about the liver issues with the meds, but I'm sure your vet would keep a close eye on his liver values if that was a concern.

I'm so sorry, I know how frightening this is, George had seizures when his teeth got really bad, none now since his dental thank goodness.
I haven't followed, but have you/your vet investigated what might be causing them? Thyroid? Blood pressure? or other health issue?
Once we treated the tooth infection and had the dental the problem resolved, haven't got any experience with he meds on the CBoil, sorry.

I’m so sorry to hear this, I agree with Chris, take him to vet, maybe try gabapentin, I’ve heard that is works for seizures they were gonna put Bella on it but it was 68.00 at pharmacy it had to made for his ear, since his are so small and a little eye flickers I didn’t do it

I'm so sorry to hear about that seizure...I'm sure that was very frightening for both of you. I hope you'll find some answers...I'd lean toward the medication as well...but it's your choice...perhaps they won't continue to be an issue if you can get to the root cause.

Best wishes to you and Ravan...sending strong healing vines across the ether to you both.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh no, Joy, I am sorry to be reading this. I don't have any experience with cats and seizures, only dogs. My Ricky is on zonisamide, a human anti seizure drug,not one that is considered a heavy hitter like phenabarbitol and easier on the liver. The seizures can cause brain damage especially if there go on more than a minute. In my mind, it's the lessor of the two evil, brain damage or liver damage. The liver damage happens over a long period of time and Ravan is an older cat.......

It's your call but if it were me since they are getting closer together, I'd investigate a anti-seizure drug. The zonisimide is very cheap at Costco, (you don't have to be a member there to use their pharmacy) And saying this, I don't know if zonisimide works for cats.

So sorry JoyBee. I hope you can figure out what’s causing them and figure out a good plan. I’ve had two dogs that had seizures and it’s very scary for them and us. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
