Good morning!
I just tested Sam and he is 432. I got up in the middle of the night to feed him a little.
In the past 2 days I was giving him 0.25u and today I will increase it to 0.5u after he eats. Will see what he will test during the day!

Re: 2-24 will increase dose to 0.2u

It will be good to see some numbers mid cycle. He seem to have stopped throwing those long cycles and low numbers so an increase is not a bad idea. We want him out of the reds.

yes I hope he is out of the red soon.
This morning I was half asleep when I gave him insulin so I hope I really injected him  I checked his fur and skin and nothing felt wet so I hope I didn't mess up!!

Good morning Nadja!

An increase does sound good as you have been at that level for a bit now. At least Sam hasn't thrown in a low green in a few cycles to make you wonder what was going on.

Good morning Heather!
This is true :] so maybe we are getting somewhere? at least it sounds like it to me ..! :-D

it's been 8 1/2 hrs since I gave Sam 0.5u and he tested 222. I just updated the SS with a couple of numbers for today so far. :D

Sam tested 445 13 hrs his am shot. Unfortunately I had to take care of an issue and couldn't be hwere exactly 12 hrs later. So I'm thinking about giving him 0.5u tonight again.

so will his numbers will start to lower as his body gets used to the insulin is this then?
Sometimes I wonder if I'm injecting on the right spot because he jumps a little, well he just did now but sometimes he acts like he doesn't feel the needle.
Anyways thanks for keeping an eye on his data and we'll se how things go tomorrow morning :D

The general idea is that they need a few cycles of the same dose for their body to get used to the dose and "settle".

If you will be around this weekend to monitor and he is still starting in the 400s, you can get more aggressive with the dose.

so maybe 2 more days with this same dose? and then if he still starts on 400's maybe I can change his dosage litle by little? with 0.6 u maybe? or should we see how his numbers will be like in the next couple days?

Let's see if he is in the 400s tomorrow am. If so, and if you can monitor, you might want to increase by .25. We want him in lower numbers but with his strange reactions at first, moving too fast makes me a little nervous. A balance between moving slowly but getting him into better numbers.

Does he seem fine otherwise? Have you done ketone testing yet? If not, it would be a good idea.

Hi Sue he tested 465 this morning, he is eating right now so I don'tknow if I should give him 0.5u so his body get's used to it or if I should increase it as you suggested.

I have tried to test for ketones but it didn't work very well. I have to move the liter box so I'm able to sneak behind it and lift the lid as he does his business :-D his liter box is inside a closet so it's a tight fit.
