Okay I tried again this morning with the calipers, the syringe pushed all the way up is right in the middle of the first line, so that’s my zero. I did what you said and just measured what we have been using as our fattened 0.25U and it comes out to 0.52 so that’s what I put on the spreadsheet today.Push the plunger all the way in, where does it stop? That should be zero.
0.25 of 1.32 is 0.33. 0.5 of 1.32 is 0.66. If a fattened dose is in between, it would be around 0.49. The difference between 0.25 and 0.5 is again 0.33 mm, so half of that is 0.16. Add that to 0.25 measurement to get 0.33 + 0.16 - 0.49. Work for you? The other option is to load a syringe with what you've been calling a fattened 0.25, measure that, and use that measurement. Remember, it's consistency in your measurements that count, not you compared to anyone else.
Thanks Sonia! I’ve only used the calipers last night and this morning, and thanks to @Wendy&Neko for helping me figure out the fattened 0.25 dose! It takes some getting used to but with me and DH giving injections, it just made sense to start using calipers so we are both giving accurate doses. Hopefully he can get the hang out it. DH uses calipers for work so he’s very familiar with it thankfully.Congratulations on using callipers Sarah, you're going to love them in no time, it makes dosing and especially micro-dosing soooo much easier! I can't believe I went so long without!!
I would suggest you continue to put 0.25F in the units column and put the 0.52 in your comments as the 0.25F is a unit measurement whereas the 0.52 is a millimetre measurement. Otherwise, if someone gives your SS a quick glance, it looks like you're dosing 0.52 units.![]()
Yes! I want to be giving consistent doses since me and DH share the responsibility of giving Blaze insulin. My fat 0.25 could be different than DH’s, so I’m glad we’re doing using calipers now. Especially since we’re on a smaller dose and we aren’t currently on a dose that can be measured on a line on the syringe. Hopefully this will help keep it consistent with dosing.I couldn't do it without calipers anymore...consistency is key! Perhaps it'll help Blaze surf in the daytime??? We can only hope, huh?
He does like to save his serious stuff for the moonlight...what a guy! I too wish he'd save all that fun stuff for daylight...but oh he's a stubborn one...
Let's hope that all that night time surfing will help him find the big 'R' sooner than later
Have a great day Sarah!

I know, I was pretty surprised that my eyeballing the fat 0.25 wasn’t to far off from the actual calculated amount! But it’s definitely a relief to be using the calipers now so we are both giving more accurate and consistent doses! I’m just going to stick with the 0.52mm since it’s what I’ve been eyeballing this far for the fattened dose. I’m even wondering if after I get back from my trip this weekend, if Blaze might need a little more insulin? You've done a really good job eyeballing the 0.25F dose if it's that close the calculated amount! It'll be a huge relief knowing DH is giving the same dose as you now.
