TaggingWhelp, Angel just threw me a curveball.
I'd like to move my shot schedule forward an hour, so I tested 35 minutes earlier tonight with the intent to shoot 30 minutes earlier (so 11.5 hours after AM shot). Not that it should make this much of a difference, haha.
I got the 49, thought maybe it was a faulty reading so immediately tested again and got the 45.
I assume this is a skip number right? Or just stall and see where she's at in 30 minutes at actual PMPS time?
And btw, can anyone explain that drop to me? Like, is there any explanation other than she's still producing some of her own insulin? She's not ill, eating like normal, ate a bunch even after that +8.
A number that is under 50 is not a number you can shoot. I'd suggest waiting until your usual PMPS and see where the numbers are. Keep in mind, that you also need to reduce Angel's dose to 3.25u.
With a low preshot number you can:
The token dose is different from the new, reduced insulin dose.
- skip the shot
- stall WITHOUT FEEDING. Re-test every 15 - 20 min and if numbers are consistently rising and are above 50 (or where you're more comfortable shooting), give insulin
- give a token, reduced dose of insulin this one time
This is the sticky on dealing with low pre-shot numbers.
If kitty drops below 40 (long term diabetic) or 50 (newly diagnosed diabetic) reduce the dose by 0.25 unit.
It’s only February, she was Dx in mid April, take the reduction![]()

gonna get some sleep now!
