Toby had 2 great cycles and started out at a good number this morning. Maybe we have hit his lucky
number. The only thing now is I think he is getting constipated. He takes Miralax 1/8 of tsp. If I give him 1/4 tsp. his poos get to big to pass. I have tried pumpkin and the same thing happens. I saw some people use slippery elm bark . I don't know if you can use that with prednisolone. I mix water with his food.
I've been giving him hair ball medicine twice a day to see if that would help. It seems if one thing goes right something else happens. Take Care, Peg and Toby
 
Peg, he really is having great cycles! What an impressive AMPS today.

But, uhm, Toby. You gotta poop. Really. So, little guy, get going.

Sending tons of poo vines your way, also. Come on, Toby, you need to poop, lil man. Perhaps try adding a bit more water to his meals, and if needed and if possible, add an extra meal somewhere with more water.

Peg, I sure hope that Toby can be OTJ as well. All you can do is do your best and keep trying different things. Hang in there.
 
Lots of poo vines coming at you. Tarragon is on prednisolone as well and the hairball treatment is what I have been using when he gets constipated. I'm not sure about the slippery bark. Have a great day Peg!
 
Toby did pretty good all day long having a bit of a bounce tonight. Glad to see a little green today. I gave him a suppository today and he pooed some. It doesn't seem like he poos enough for all that he eats. Also gave hairball medicine and Miralax. Does anyone know about the slippery elm bark? Take Care, Peg and Toby
 
I know that it's safe to give cats - i've read several people use it. I'm pretty sure marje has mentioned using it in the past. Other than that, I don't know much about it.

You can also add a little butter or coconut butter to his food. That works basically like hairball med.

I just googled cats+slippery elm and there are quite a few references to it. One mentioned being questionable for diabetics . . . The ironic thing is that here's that reference

I've just started giving Vyktor the pumpkin but also about 1/4 tsp of coconut oil, he's loving that and licking it straight off the spoon.

I was researching a little about slippery elm bark the other day on Tanya's website. It didn't mention anything about it not being ok for diabetics - further research required I think - but it did say to watch out for additives.

I hope this is Toby's lucky number!
