Yesterday's recap:
382 - amps (9.0uL)
349 - pmps (9.5uL & .25uR)
295 - +1
247 - +2
212 - +3
229 - +4
229 - +5
223 - +6
261 - +7
344 - today's amps (9.5uL)

So, that was one nice long string of yellows. Shadoe and I both liked those numbers.

Not too much to report this morn; Shadoe is yet to use the LB this morn as she used it during the nite. She is currently working on her breakfast slowly. I say slowly because it's not her favorite but she is hungry. She has a bit then walks away, then she goes back a minute later for a bit more.

Booboo was racing back and forth all nite last nite; Shadoe just watched her thinking *stupid cat, stupid cat*. This morn, Booboo raced out for her dry to be uncovered, gobbled too fast, raced around some more, then a bit of it came back up in the hall. Silly cat is going to be hungry tonite unless she breaks down and eats some wet

And that's that. Shadoe's now settled down on the sofa for a snooze while watching the Olympics.

Scratches to all the kitties and nice day for the beans

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334

It looks like your gathering some good data on that R. Nice job.
Have a good day!

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334

 Think we need to start wearing our sunglasses in here!

You are doing such a great job Gayle.

I think you should write a book..."Shadoe's daily thoughts"

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334

Carolyn,
I think a Shadoe journal would be great fun. Maybe I'll be able to wrap my head around a Shadoe blog; that would be fun. I will play around with that idea on the weekend.

I am hoping that if she has a handful of nice yellow strings over the pm's, her body and organs will slowly adjust to the difference. I am not sure how, but then I would like to see a few nice bloos sprinkled in around the middle, just for a nibble and look-see. I would like her to move on down on her own, but wonder if she is going to need a friendly nudge to move things alown.

We shall see what tonite's bit of R brings; hopefully, it will be more nice sunshine yellows, and with luck, a spot of clear bloo in there.

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334

Very nice AMPS today Gayle. It is almost yellow.
How awsome is that.
Looks like Shadoe is getting more adjusted to the yellows in the PM cycle.
Can't you call in sick and test her all day, lol.

Looking forward to seeing more progress tonight.
What's the news on the BG results - I'm going to bug you, you know, lol.

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334

Thanks Lydia, I am hoping that Shadoe gets real comfy with the Yellow feel, and we can move on from there, and soon I hope!

Randi,
I think Shadoe and I are so into the test routine, that we barely think about it anymore. I swear she jumps up for tests and I have to say no more, we are done for the nite. I think she's almost disappointed

I plan to stop by the vets on the way home and ask about the regular blood work, and what the results are. I have been waiting so long for the other tests that I need something to tide me over till the end of the week or start of next week! I also better get some more strips; I don't ever want to get low on strips, especially if Shadoe decides to pull some tricks with the R affecting her later on in a cycle.

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334

The vet left a vm to say that she got the regular blood tests back and everything looks fine other than the BG high at 19.2 but we already expected that result, so no surprise there.
I'll stop by the vets and pick up a copy of the results so I can look them over myself and decide if 'everything looks fine'. ;-)
Hopefully, I will agree with her.

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334

LOL Gayle, I hope for her sake you do agree with her :D

I was getting impatient with the .25u myself, but that drop to 212 last night was pretty significant!! Go Shadoe!
..C

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334

Hey Carolyn,
You have to keep in mind that this young vet was the one who told me to just change Shadoe's food when we got positive results to the p-itis tests haha_smiley

When a vet says to treat a dehydrated, puking cat with p-itis who has not eaten in over 24hrs with a different kinda food ... uh ya, lemme check those results myself if ya don't mind ;-)

She just needs some more schoolin' from Shadoe's bean
She better be a quick study too!

As for the R dose, I am liking the yellows, and see no need for forcing any drastic changes. I would rather have Shadoe and her organs get used to yellow, then see how it goes from there. We'll just cruise till we get all the other results in.

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334

Would your vet e-mail you the lab report? My vet gets the report from Idexx, and she just forwards it to me by e-mail, and I can print it out.

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334

Beautiful yellow cycle! It's so nice to see Shadoe in some yellow for a change. Since she looks so great in it, can you tell her to convince Logan to try some?!

So, this "R", you don't need a prescription, right? Where do you get it and what's the official name? I'm just curious...keeping this in my back pocket, so to speak, for Mr. Logan. Does your vet know you're using it? I'm guessing not!

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334 pmps 362 +1 311

I picked up Shadoe's regular blood test results and confirmed that the others were sent off via Fedex yesterday for MSU; I can hardly wait till we get those results!

Everything is improved, but platelets and lymphocytes are below range. I'll update Shadoe's test results sheet shortly.

As usual, Shadoe was in bed and did not come out till 10min before pmps; so weird how she knows it's time.

Tonite is cycle 3 at 9.5uL and cycle 5 at .25uR. I am liking the evening yellows, so I don't want to rock the boat by changing the R.

Shadoe is very purry and happy shortly after her shots tonite; I am guessing the R is doing something that she is liking, liking alot! Now, she's looking like she's got her buzz on, stretched out, ears laid back, eyes closed and purrring away!

Will test hourly as usual to see what's up with the R

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334 pmps 362 +1 311

quite a day in here today...I cant read lab reports, but would like to see what they came up with for the regular bloodwork.

Doing great in yellow Shadoe, nice and steady so u dont make mom crazee!

:-D :-D :-D a little dab of soothing yellows!

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334 pmps 362 +1 311

I think your attitude is right on, get used to yellows, then work on blues. Go, Shadoe!

Re: 2/23 Shadoe pmps 362 +1!311 +2~245

We are back in yellow at +2; let's hope we can surf through the whole evening that way.

Ronnie,
You can see Shadoe's regular bloowwork results from the link in our signature. I put the ranges on the ss and also all her past test results so they can be compared. I should go back and change the color of all the values that are outside the norm ranges. I just scanned them but will have to look at them a bit more.

Nina,
I don't want to rush anything, so I will be happy with yellow for awhile.

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334 pmps 362 +1 311

Gayle,
I learned from a 5th grader this year that the guy who writes the Garfield cartoons did so after the passing of his cat. he did it in his cat's memory...and look what came of it! I was not sure how true it was, then suddenly I was ganged up by a dozen 5th graders insisting it was true.

You and Shadoe have many, many years ahead of you Im sure. A blog, or something along that line would be a great way to honor the process she is going through right now. You express how she must be feeling so well. It might even help other's who have cats that are struggling with your great sense of humor.

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334 pmps 362 +1 311

Sorry, I missed some replies.

Kelly,
Nope we don't need any rx for insulin, at least here in Toronto you don't. I am not sure why it's needed in the US?
I just went to the Shopper's Drug Mart pharmacy and said I want to buy some Humulin R insulin, preferably in a 5-pack of cartridges. Just like buying aspirin or cough syrup, or the test strips for the meters that are behind the counter.
I am seeing that even Shadoe's stubborn numbers can't resist the R, and I would sure not want to use R if Shadoe was a bouncer.
And as for does my vet know what I am doing and using? You betcha they know! My approach to the whole thing is the following:
I am doing this and using that; here is Shadoe's ss so you can see the results. You wanna make something of it? No? Good, I did not think so.
The thing that too many beans forget is who's the boss.
The vet should be receptive to good documentation of your processes and routines and the results from both.
The vet should be willing to support in ways for which you pay - getting needed rx and providing advice and a wailing wall with regard to various meds that can be used for feline health issues.
If you want blood work done, or some sort of tests done, it is NOT the vet's place to refuse. Especially, if you do all the leg work and bring in the instructions and tell the vet who to call and where to send the blood.

Logan and Shadoe, and all the other kitties can't speak for themselves, so we must.

All I know about R is what I have seen with Shadoe over the last 5 days. I don't know if her reactions are normal or extremely weird. What I do like is that it's brought her down to yellows, and that is a very good thing after months of pinks and reds.

Jojo and Carolyn and others can tell you all about R and how it would be for Logan. You should run it by them and see what they have to say.

Re: 2/23 Shadoe amps 334 pmps 362 +1 311

I like seeing all this yellow on Shadoe. Glad to hear that she is such a happy kitty, too.

I think the R is losing steam now, so here's hoping the Lantus takes over and we stay put in yellow. A blue would be nice but I'll be satisfied with a nite of yellows!

She's looking really relaxed, and it's helping me feel better too.

Another great ooking night Gayle.
And BTW, I so agree with Carolyn. How awsome would a blog be.
Are you going for a +4???
You never know what we will see.

Sorry folks, the party's over.

It looks like the R fizzled out and we are on our way back up.
Back to the pinks we go :YMSIGH:

I am visualizing a tug of war. The Lantus was not strong enough to pull down from pink, so Lantus called on its buddy big R to come on down and lend a hand.
Well big R is strong, but just gets all tuckered out quickly. We see R pulling down, and we get into the yellows, but R gets pooped and lazy old Lantus, was not paying attention, so R let go and Lantus never took over.

It is NOT what I call good team work here angry(2)_cat

oh well, I will test a couple more times cuz Shadoe does sneaky stuff and may dip down again.
