I knew he was going to be high again this morning as after he woke me at 5 and I ignored him, he drank a lot of water.

Re: 2/23Max AMPS324

I hope Max works that juice today, and slides down for you :-D . I know it's tough waiting for better numbers, they will come! Sending hugs! I hope you have a good day.

Re: 2/23Max AMPS324 +5=89

Well he is working it, too much I think. This is a huge drop again. Is there anything I can do to avoid another bounce? So I just read some responses on this. He got insulin at 7 and ate then and again at 8. I left him a little fancy feast and left for a a couple hours. At +4:45 he had dropped from the 324 to 89. I fed him abou 1/4 can with a little freeze dried chicken and will check again soon.

Thanks.

Elise

Nice greens but yikes on the drop! Fast drops can cause another bounce. There are a few techniques people use to try to slow down the dives. I see Max got food at +1. You could try feeding him a bit at +1, +2 and +3, so spreading it out a bit. If you had tested at +2 or before you left, and seen the start of a drop, you also could have fed him a slightly higher LC, maybe 8-9% carbs, to slow him down a bit.

Re: 2/23 Max AMPS 324 +5=89 +6.5=75

Thanks. I left food at almost +3 and it was gone when I returned two hours later. This drop caught me by surprise. I put out more food after the 6.5 test but he hasn't touched it. Since he went down again then I will test again. I was supposed to leave by now but am afraid to go. If he starts to go up and I leave out food is it safe ? Should I leave a higher carb food? Actually I have low and quite a bit higher. I don't have an 8-9%. Which fancy feast are at that level?

Re: 2/23 Max AMPS 324 +5=89 +6.5=75

it was only a 14pt drop in the past hour, i'd think you'd be safe to leave food and go out. he's probably near the bottom of the drop and will start up before long. yes, probably into another bounce, silly kitty.

i'd probably leave the usual low carb. i don't know the carb contents off the top of my head, sorry.

eta - i should add depending on how long you're going to be gone. i'd probably want to either wait til you see flat or rising, or test again in an hour, or leave lots of food. one of those 3 options. ya gotta live, though, so i'd probably leave the food, personally.

 mr greenie agrees - it's some good-working insulin!!!

don't be shocked when he bounces - the good news is that his bounces are resolving more quickly. Wendy's suggestions about preventing the quick drop are good ideas to try. eventually he'll stop bouncing when he gets more used to these green numbers.

Re: 2/23 Max AMPS 324 +5=89 +6.5=75

I didn't see a +2 test on the SS, so we don't know whether he dropped before or after you left this morning. I don't feed Fancy Feast, but according to the food chart, some of the Flaked options are a bit higher carb % but still considered low carb.

I agree with Julie, I'd leave the lower carb out now. Save the higher %carb LC for the first half of the cycle when the insulin action is stronger. Keep on surfing, but safely please Max.

Re: 2/23 Max AMPS 324 +5=89 +6.5=75

Thanks Wendy and Julie. I'll add a few cans of flaked to my cabinet. I have a can of chunk but it contains grains. Actually I think the flaked does as well. He used to eat the sliced which also does but grain free is better for him. The sliced I think are considered higher carb though. Well his +8 1/2 was 84 is I'm off for a few hours until I need to be back for insulin.

So with his PMPS being 231, should I test my usual 3-5 hours later?

no one here ever says no to an offer of a test . . .

i'd probably get one before bed just to see where he's going.

Max would if he could speak!! He just ate and came to visit me after using his box. I wish I knew why he gets vocal in there. That has been going on for at least 6 months now. He's a happy cat right now and that is nice to see.
