Christie & Willie said:Hi, Steph. My, we have some cliff divers tonight!! That is definitely a drop, but no need to get alarmed just yet. What is ID and CD?
Do you have any higher carb foods with gravy on hand, or anything in the 8%-15% range?
Christie & Willie said:No panicking yet!!77 is a great number and we want give Java a chance to surf. If you feed right now, give 1/2 tsp or so... you don't want him too full to eat later. Get a +3.5 and post back. I will stay up with you.
Sienne and Gabby said:Christie is giving you very solid guidance. Remember, as long as you have strips and HC food, you are in control of the cycle. Take a look at Gabby's numbers tonight -- she's been surfing in the 70s for the last 3 hours. These are great numbers! They are pancreas healing numbers. I would give some LC -- like a teaspoon -- and test in 30 min. The low carb should help Java to surf.
Also, notice that the drop is slowing down.
Here's the post on handling low numbers. It's geared to numbers below 50 but the principles are the same.

Given the strip situation, I think the DM is appropriate at this point. Give 1/2 tsp. and test again in 30. For any additional drops, give the DM. I'm probably going to be heading to sleep her in a sec... eyes barely staying open. I would continue to test every 30, giving 1/2 tsp DM for any continued decrease. If you get a jump up to the 80s in the next hour, I'd save a strip and test 1 hr from that test. If Java drops to 50 or below, give 1/2 tsp of the CD. Stay awake until you get 2 rising numbers... hopefully you won't run out of strips.
I'd suggest getting a backup meter... The Relion confirm is a good choice. Meter is $9 and most stores sell a 20 pack of strips for $12, and all stores have the 50 pack for $20. Or get one of the CVS or Walgreens meters that are free after rebate and come with 10 strips. It is just always good to have a backup in case something goes wrong with the meter, or if you are using a meter with pricier strips and you run out.
Good job tonight!!
