Bella has enjoyed some blue numbers today. Yeah!!
She’s feeling and looking good
Urine ketones remain negative!!
It was a challenge to get a sample today....
She has become extremely wary of me following her trips to the litter box with my long handled plastic spoon.

Have you tried lining a box with a new liner and then putting plastic pellets in the box for her to pee on? Get a fine mesh metal strainer at Walmart and then after she goes pee - pour the pellets into the strainer and rinse clean - allow to dry and then re-use. This type of pellet - https://www.amazon.com/plastic-pell...tion/dp/B014R7DZYY/?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20

The vet gave me a small bag full.

I had to do that a lot with Luci - she had some ketones in her urine when we first took her to the vet. I bought the glucose sticks and the ketone sticks at Walmart too - they're inexpensive. She was a bit suspicious of the pellets at first - but I'd take her regular litter box up and set it on the dryer - to block her access to it - so she had no choice but to use the plastic pellets - and she did! Much easier than trying to get her to pee into a spoon while I stood by...

I just found some of these online too:
PetConfirm Urine Collection Cat Litter - from PetCo - much smaller quantity - looks like those would work best!

Wow
I’ve got two other cats
That seems like more work
I do appreciate the advice.
Thank you

Yikes, my heart stopped too! I am glad that Bella is alive and well. When I first arrived here, I put an angel icon on someone's thread assuming that I was calling them " My Angel" Wrong! Don't feel bad. We have all made snafus like that.

I would be too if some women kept following me to the bathroom with a plastic spoon. LOL

Glad I missed the GA issue, I would be heartbroken!

She is doing great!

See how she goes today and tonight, but think it’s time for more juice in the morning?
Sorry she’s afraid of the spoon. They make blood ketone meters that work just like the BG ones. Happy she is ketone free and feeling good! :cat:

Do you mean one blood draw for both glucose and ketones? That surely must be expensive.
I can catch her peeing usually... but she’s not happy with me.

Increase her to 1.5 u?
I think she’s ready...
Sure will be easier to measure with my geezer eyes.

I think all of the ketone meters double as glucose meters, but they have different strips, one for ketones, one for glucose. Most people just use them to test ketones and stick with their other meter for testing BGs. The ketone strips are spendy in comparison to the glucose strips but you aren’t testing for ketones near as often, and none of these supplies are nearly as expensive as an ER stay with DKA.

I think there are only a couple of different brands that make ketone meters, here is one:

1.5 will be easier to measure for sure! :)
