Smooth blue n yellow surf today so far - Not a lot of fluctuation in bg # since yesterday afternoon. May we leave those ugly bounces behind us... they take a lot out of him and make me nuts. Rear legs seem stronger and some endurance has returned since commencement of potassium supplementation. Guarding against wishful thinking and erroneous assessment. :stop:

His regular vet made a surprise call this morning and we discussed Butternut’s mouth + 500 other things about him. What a rabbit hole diabetes/CKD is!

Did some minimal internet searching on insulin-glucose n potassium connections. Interesting but I’m too tired to take it in right now. Worth looking into.... later with :coffee:. Also gut microbiome-diabetes relationship. :bookworm:
Grateful for Tanya’s mind-blowingly deep feline CRF website that gave me some ammo for Butternut’s appt yesterday. That website is also worth diving into.

Hope all kitties surf safely this weekend. Thanks for input yesterday. :)

Tanya's site is amazing, and a lot overwhelming! Best taken in small doses. My girl was on potassium supplement. Her blood potassium was low, but fortunately we didn't get to the point it impacted her legs.

Yesterday you asked about dentals and seniors. I went to a board certified dental vet specialist once Neko got "complicated". They have extra staff for monitoring and are used to complicated cases. Often you can even find a board certified anesthesiology vet to do just that piece.

Looks like Butternut is shedding his bounce.

Glad to see that Butternut is looking better today. This is unfortunately a roller coaster of ups and downs. There is so much information on the web about all of this stuff...and it can be overwhelming...but aren't we glad it's there! So nice of your vet to call to discuss Butternut's health with you :)

When you have a sec, could you please add the date to your title?

24 hours of a mostly flat "curve." :joyful: Yeah... we'll just cruise here for awhile and see what shakes out after adding potassium. Sprinkled a little Xtra Strength Bounce-Be-Gone Dust on Butternut for good measure.

Thanks for the extra input about dental specialists. Always something to figure out and manage with these kitties.

Date added to thread title.. . yesterday's too. oops.
