Yes, I tested a second time to be sure. Hard to believe the way this swings. I just fed him. How often to test and when will he be considered safe?

It's 10:51 pm, he just ate his regular food bc last time he was low that started him up, he also got a pill pocket. Have the HC ready if needed. He is not showing any symptoms. Thank you!

I'd check in 30 min. Usually we give HC in the 40's. You'll want to see him rising or steady for 2 hours before calling him safe.
 
If that 43 is on an AT meter definitely give HC, you want him over 68. Again you'll need to continue testy for 2 hours to make sure he stays up.

I won't be up much longer though
 
If it were me I'd get at least another test in an hour to make sure he stayed up and give more food before calling it a night
 
Sorry, I was on my phone before so my typing skills were limited. I'd want to see him rising a bit before going to bed myself. Not sure there is magic number and he did come up nicely from just the LC. Certainly test in an hour though and give more food then. If you can manage 1 more hour after that depending on the next test that's good too.
 
69 now. Yes, I will be up with him for a while until I see higher numbers. I hope he is high enough to shoot in the morning, because not shooting always brings us back to such high numbers. sigh
 
If possible I'd want one more test before going to bed. If you can't stay up I'd leave food out which should be fine since you fed lc with the drop and he came up.

ugh gone down a bit to 71 so just fed a little hc food, pepcid in a pill pocket and albuterol (rescue inhaler) because he is sounding congested. Who needs sleep anyway :arghh:
