Skooter's Previous Condo

Feeling a bit off these days and I am feeling like Skooter is, too. I am really starting to crave some consistency and scheduling to my day to day.

Let's hope this weekend can kick off what needs to get done so I can start getting a schedule and routine going.

Skooter isn't looking too shabby, but I am now greedy and I would really like to see some more green. I am wondering if he can tell I am feeling off and it is effecting him, too.

I am thinking with part of my tax refund/bonus in March of having a dental done, but I am just so nervous. The last time he went under was for his biopsies which led to his IBD dx. He was not a happy camper with me after that! Granted he had to stay for a night at the ER vet (as my vet does not have people who stay overnight), I just worry about putting him under now, especially with the diabetes. Any advice, suggestions and encouragement on that topic are welcome :)

I guess I should try and get some stuff organized before heading out to my training....

I sure hope everyone is having a wonderful Caturday!

P.S., Skooter my love? Please feel free to shimmy on down to a safe green number for me :)

So I have been reading a lot more often where people are saying the Nature's Variety is making their cat constipated. I am now wondering if that is the meowing I hear when he is in his LB. I can't tell any difference in the LB, but I have heard people say that several times.

My question is, and I know that this is more IBD related than diabetes related, but I am wondering if I should try to add a little pumpkin to his food or as a separate thing or try to find a new food to use.......

I am NOT digging this trend.....I was hoping to have an all blue and green spreadsheet for this year....I am getting a bit nervous with where he is trending right now....now I am wondering if it was a fur shot...

I add a little pumpkin to Neko's food - but her daily bupe is constipating. Can't hurt to give it a try and see if it gets better results. Also, how, umm, dry are Skooter's output. Nuggets or bigger. Dry nuggets might also be signs of constipation on raw. They do dry out after a bit, but should look a little slick. I wonder if Nature's Variety have increased the amount of bone in their product.

As for dental, I say go for it. Anesthesia is always worrysome. Neko has had anesthetic 7 times since her diabetes diagosis (3 dentals and 4 days for SRT). I worry every time, but she's a champ. And the results are worth it.

Max needs daily Miralax to stay regulated lately and he doesn't eat NV. I tried pumpkin but didn't get much bang with it alone but it works for many. Other suggestions are that he get exercise and try cat grass. I wonder if the raw fd Stella & Chewy's is part of his problem but he doesn't get that much of it.

My civvie, Frankie, also has a slight chronic constipation problem and gets Mirilax daily - it really helps. But, we haven't tried pumpkin with her....She doesn't eat a lot of wet food (although she's getting better at it), so I don't have a way to sneak pumpkin in. Interesting about the NV....I've heard other people have issues with the consistency of quality, but we never got past one can of it here.

I know what you mean about craving consistency! I used to work a regular 9-5 and hated it, but now that I've owned retail for almost 10 years, I am actually missing having regular weekends. I hope you find the consistency you're looking for!

Molly, I've been putting baby food squash (about a half teaspoon) in Cinco's breakfast every morning. He doesn't mind a bit, and he's pretty regular, compared to before I started. He has also been anesthetized at least three times since his FD diagnosis, and he's done just fine. He did not have to stay overnight, even when he had his eyes removed.

If you think Skooter needs a dental, I'd say go for it. Inflammation in his mouth, or discomfort, could affect his BGs.

Good luck getting consistency in your life. Everytime I get close, a kitty disrupts everything!

Furball has had two dentals and it's always a little worrisome, but I think it's worth it. If you think Skooter needs one, I'd do it. I hope you can figure out if he's constipated and find something to help if he is.

Gabby's had several dentals since she was diabetic. There a greater likelihood you'll see better numbers once dental issues are addressed than if you don't get the cleaning, etc. done.

Overall, Scooter's numbers look very good. If you were really wanting to push it, you might be able to fatten the dose. It's hard to know where Scooter's numbers go during the day, though. I'd give this a little while to see whether she course corrects. Some days, I think Gabby's pancreas just gets tired.
