Hi L&LL,
I missed yesterday on the board. The x-c ski at Great Camp Santanoni looked impossible because of the icy trail, so we climbed Goodnow Mountain on snowshoes, instead. It was a nice climb and the day was sunny and mild, but I was really looking forward to Camp Santanoni. Next year! The thaw is continuing here and things are not looking good for the International Snowshoe Races being held here this weekend, nor for the x-c ski races being held in Lake Placid. Rusty, however, enjoyed a brief foray outside yesterday in the warm sunshine.
He's feeling pretty good these days and eating OK. Tonight he'll be hosting our "film society". We're going to watch the 2002 version of Graham Green's "The Quiet American " (we saw the 1958 version last week). It will be interesting to see how the story might have been given a different emphasis in 2002 (post-"our" Viet Nam war) than it was in 1958 (only 4 years after the French defeat at Dien bien Phu). The story is set in 1952, during the French Indochina war.
