Gobbles' shot time was pushed forward 2 hours early for yesterday's PMPS. So now I shoot at 4:30 am/pm. Getting up in the middle of the night wasn't as hard as I thought it might be. I set my alarm for 4:15 am and put the alarm clock far away enough on my nightstand, that I had to get out of bed to shut the alarm off. Best part is, I got to go back to bed and get up whenever I wanted to! Awesome, as I slept in till 7:45!!!

He's here sitting on the back of the couch, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, watching the snow come down & on the look out for birds.

Re: 2/21 Gobbles AMPS 232 +5.75 154

Gobbles ate 1 oz. Friskies 10% (was the only thing left in the cupboard, short of MC, HC) plus 6 pieces raw chicken, at AM +5.75. I hope this doesn't raise his BG too high....that is, the 10%. I really have to get to the store....but I will not be back until at least AM+10, so I had to feed him what I had on hand....he sure enjoyed it! I'll test him before I leave; that will probably tell a story....

Kat

I have to say that you are doing awesome! You have come so far since those early days! We told you that you would and I don't think you believed us. But here you are, handling those numbers yesterday like a pro, supporting others, knowing your boy! I am so proud of you :-D And I bet you've been able to toss vitamin x in the trash

Kudos for you! Too bad we don't hand out awards here for how fast new members progress! You'd surely win it.

Hi Kat

Nice drop to blue - how about a drama-free surf now Gobbles ;-)

Nice you can get a btb, the ability has always escaped me (once I'm up, that's usually it)
I'm a firm believer in afternoon naps though ;-)

Oh gosh, Marje--you made my day by saying such encouraging words to me. I was the "basket-case queen" back in the day -- surely there should be an award for that!! Looking back, I was such a green horn but still have so, so much to learn. I recently realized that an important part of this journey, in addition to education and supporting others, is learning more about your cat. And the value of HT, gathering history and keeping notes, is highly underrated. I'm making it an effort with newbies, to gently push curves and frequent testing; at the beginning, at least (I can use myself as a good example, to be sure). It means a lot to hear that you're proud of me. My heart wrenches for the newbies and their sugar-sweeties and I try to help them with the limited experience and knowledge I have (though I do worry about occasionally stepping on others' toes and have unknowingly done it a few times with a few "911, immediate" situations where there was no one on board) and to be firm, but not obtrusive.... Am I really worthy of an award? Ya know it's funny in that months ago, I told my husband I needed to do something with myself and had even looked around for a volunteer position. Then I visited an awesome, huge animal shelter where I used to volunteer (and where I got Gobbles from) and considered that. Coincidentally, we relocated in the summer and that very same shelter is only 3 miles from my new home. I was on the fence about volunteering there again other than write the occasional grant for them, which I had done in the past) in addition to data entry, cleaning and socializing in the cat wings) but have found my "niche"--here at FDMB. I plan on being here for a very long time, regardless of if Gobbles goes into remission or not cat_pet_icon

This is what I love to hear. You're right, there are so many opportunities here to learn about your cat. Not just his response to insulin, but many other things. You know how to pay attention to the P's and the Whole Cat Report, so if anything is ever "off" you'll see it quickly. I have become more proactive with all of my cats, not just Lucy. It's great, isn't it?

Marje is right, though, you're an excellent student and you're doing great. It's great how quickly his numbers started coming back down last night. Looks good!

Hi, Kat! Reading today's condo made my day.
Keep up the good work! (You, too, Gobbles!)

Yes, it sure is great for everyone to become more proactive (and learn more) about our cats!!! And the advice to shoot 2 hours ealy last night helped Gobbles out; thank you :YMHUG:

Re: 2/21 Gobbles PMPS 339

I 2nd or 3rd what Marje and Libby said. The "basket case days" are long behind you!

Ummm, that's really awesome, Kat..... but in my world, 7:45 hardly qualifies as "sleeping in". 11:45 maybe....

Re: 2/21 Gobbles PMPS 339 +6 447 +7 550 ? shoot at +11 ?

Ugh....+6 of 467 & +7 of 550. Very tempting to shoot early. This may be a "random weird number" but I don't think he's clearing a bounce. It's 11:40 p.m. here now...past my bedtime...shot time is 4:30 a.m. If there are any experts out there; opinion on early shot? (I shot 2 hours early, yesterday, at +10)...

Re: 2/21 Gobbles PMPS 339 +6 447 +7 550 ? shoot at +11 ?

NOT an expert..... but if your current 4:30 am/pm schedule is where you want to be, then I would say don't shoot early. Those are ugly numbers, no doubt. But it's just one cycle.
